I was reading this article over on the Register. Basically it talks about a lot of the gaming websites falling apart due to poor ad revenues and that they will eventually go to a subscription model to cover hosting and staff costs.
Anands is a great site, but how many of us ever look at banner ads? The only ones I can think of are that "punch the monkey" and the color pda banner with the trippy swirling colors. So, with the crash of .com stocks and the realization that ad banners suck, are we about to lose the www as we know it?
