wow. tough one. i hate movies, really. i guess i would have to judge on how a movie has moved me. there are only 3 movies that have ever left me with an emotional weight. they are, in no particular order:

requiem for a dream
jack the bear
braveheart
cast away

okay, maybe 4.

the best ever would have to be..........beyond the valley of the dolls:beer:

Ernest Goes To Africa.

The title says it all. There's a mix up involving stolen diamonds which Ernest has (naturally) made into a yo-yo and given to his would be girlfriend, Rene. But Rene wants a man of action, and doesn't think that Ernest fits the bill. After the bad guys come looking for the stolen diamonds and kidnap Rene, all of her fantasies come true as Ernest has to go to Africa to rescue her. -IMDB

Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Cinema peaked at this point way back in '81 and has never again come close to duplicating this masterpiece. :D

It depends on my mood. Ben Hur, Casablanca, African Queen, the Indiana Jones series, Star Wars series, Blade Runner, The Good The Bad and the Ugly, Stage Coach, Forrest Gump are my favorite movies.

Overall, however, I believe the title goes to Seven Samurai.

I actually liked Ran better than Seven Samurai, but it would definitely be up there.

Conan the Barbarian. It's got hot chicks, nudity, pit fights, swords, an orgy scene, and lots of killin, all necessary for a movie to qualify as greatest of all time.
