The Sims 3 *crashes* frequently, what gives?

Just bought The Sims 3 along with a few other games, this past 4th of July weekend, while the other games worked fine gaming, as with my older games that I have currently installed in my computer, does anyone have an idea on why would this game crash often?

In other words, my computer would just lock up and restart *most of the time* or it would just crash *not responsive*

At first I was thinking it would be my videocard or just how my OC setup is set to, but then I'm thinking its just the game itself.

Is there a new patch that fixes this problem? or maybe the game's settings that I set it to would make my system unstable?

From searching the web there are quite a few patches out. Have you installed any of them??

What's with this game and crashes? It doesn't run very steadily on the iphone either. EAs really not painting a good picture for the casual gamers out there.

Sims 3 is known for crashing. It's mentioned in some reviews, too.

My sister playes it on my computer and it never has crashed.....
