IMHO I kind of get the feeling that it's hip to dis the Simpsons and say "Seasons 1-whatever were the best, the rest suck". Honestly they still make me crack up even today, not by everything but they can still pack a comedic punch when they want.

Yeah, pretty much. "I'm so hip, I think something established sucks!"

If you have the Futurama dvd sets, watch the first couple shows with the comment audio track selected.
Matt gives some insights on The Simpsons that I don't think most people knew.
He talks about the life span of the show quite a bit even though its a futurama dvd.

maybe, just maybe, people who aren't concerned with being "hip" think it sucks for no other reason than it does? I bet the same people who like the new seasons of the Simpsons think 2 and a half men is hilarious.

It may be hip, it's also right. The show sucks now. It has for years. All the talent is gone, and any that isn't has long since been sucked dry. But the show will still draw viewers and make money because there are enough people out there who will watch anything (except the History channel or something).

It's right because YOU say so? I gave MY opinion. What you say is YOUR opinion. And no, I won't watch anything, in fact I don't normally watch primetime TV anymore, usually just Discover or the Science Channel.

Really... your opinion? NO SHIT? Anyway, your opinion sucks and is wrong. Repeated for emphasis: your opinion sucks and is wrong.

More American Dad, less Simpsons.

American Dad's most recent season killed it for me. The show completely fizzled and there haven't been any laughs in a while.

No creative outlet can (or should) survive forever - at some point, you just run out of worthwhile ideas. FOX keeps renewing them and paying more, because somehow, it's still a giant money maker for the network.

If I remember correctly, a few years ago the voice actors demanded an unreasonable increase in pay, partly in an attempt to *get cancelled* and do something new with their lives. FOX paid them to get over their boredom and keep going.

I thought last week's was alright, but now they've used "Lisa becomes a ballerina twice", haven't they?
It reminds me of whichever episode closed with the song "They'll never stop the Simpsons"

I've watched a couple of the new season, and they aren't really a comedy any more. The last one I watched was a flashback to the 90s where Homer had a grunge band... it was more a shitty attempt at drama than anything.

That was the first 'new' episode I've seen in years, and thought it was great. Although it was probably due to all of the 90s references and music, brought back a lot of memories.

Not really...every ATOT'er here has jumped on a bandwagon like this at one time or another. I agree, the quality of the show isn't that great...but just don't watch it if you don't like it.

"I'm so hip, I make fun of people who think something established sucks when in reality it really could just be their opinion of something"

Just b/c people share the same opinion doesn't mean they are jumping on a bandwagon. That is bassackwards thinking on your part my friend.
