Liberals will become anti-war again. I for one am interested to see the OPs rage when Drumpf executes his first US citizen without trial via drone strike.

And the other side will barely make any noise about it after doing the same for the past 8 years.

You seem to have missed the point of this thread.

I'm looking forward to see what these people turn into now that there is only one team running the show. I'm looking forward to the evidence they will be providing in the 2020 election to counter the opinions of half the country.
That's the silver lining.
We no longer have to resort to theory. We get to actually see what happens when a one party system lead by buffoons run the country.

Silver lining is I get to see the hope of the people who voted republican burn and with that fire take down the GOP once and for all.

Said for the nth time. I know 2006 was supposed to be the end of the GOP. Then after 08 they were to never win another presidential election again and turn into a regional party. Now they are finally going to be done once and for all after capturing the oval office while retaining both houses of congress. Good to know.

They have complete control of the country. Last time that happened look what happened and they didn't have crazy orange. Now they have a republican president which it's own party hates and he hates them. Something like this has never happened before.

I said it before and will say again: Trump candidacy exposed the hipocrisy in the movement conservatism, especially among the religious leaders. It also helped distinguishing the principled ones from unprincipled among the libertarian crowd. We now know that when some people say "Free market, Free trade" what they really mean is something very different.

Ok? My point is for a party that was declared dead a decade ago. They sure seem to have a lot of life. Own the executive and legislative branches. And 2/3rds of the governors in this country. For being a party on life support. They have to be doing something right.

I will give you one thing. Calling Trump Crazy Orange is funny. I haven't heard that one before. It is a perfect description of him as well lol

Just in case you missed it, the GOP just elected:

A guy who's tax plan will add trillions to the debt
A guy who supports isolationism
A guy who is against free trade
A guy who has supported gun control
A guy who has praised single payer health care
A guy who has had multiple divorces and poses questionable "morale character"
A guy who wants to cozy up with our "greatest geo political foe

The party is already dead, you just aren't smart enough to see it.

I love how you claim I cant see it as if it is some kind of insult. I abandoned the GOP years ago. So you are preaching to the choir on this one.

Now what will come next is the truly scary part. When democrats go protectionist\nationalist. Bernie was the tip of the iceberg. Now that trump won I expect them to go full retard in 2020.

Another thing I'm looking forward to is for all the gun restrictions to be lifted so that all the people can arm themselves.
Especially the ones in the "inner cities" Trump likes to talk about.

I'm looking forward to all the fracking that is going to happen in middle america and Florida. Especially Florida. I want them to frack the hell out of Florida.

I can't wait when Trump comes on TV and blasts every single republican in congress and blames them for everything going wrong.

It won't be the dems that do that, it's the Republicans and that movement has already started. We've already seen this play before, they were called the "know nothings" before they were called the Republicans.

The silver lining is that after this new party comes out, it will die and a new, better, more sane party will emerge.

Late night will be funny again, been a long time since they will have had an abundance of nucular presidential material.

Also a return of a President's Enemies List, Trump will be the first since Tricky Dick.

When you figure out that they're all totally insincere about everything but the class warfare of trickle down economics you'll understand that it's all just posturing.

They'll be all lovey-dovey before you know it.

So then nothing will get done and all those people on obamacare who voted for him will no longer have insurance. At the end of the day they are screwed no matter what.

The silver lining for the losers is that their candidate, Donald J. Trump, won.
Now we have a government of losers, for losers, by losers.

That was a good attempt but you and I are the losers and you have to come to terms with it and we can do that by looking at the positives.

Try again.

It sucks but I feel I won the election. I am a old white guy. Liberal but very little interaction with others anymore. I will reap whatever benefits Trump bestows on me while dashing off objections to said same. I feel more like Skankhunt42 everyday.

The silver lining is the prestige that has accrued to America around the world. Trump is much more like George Washington than Boris Yeltsin. A real intellectual and class act all the way around.

....oops I think I just threw up a little in my mouth....

I don't think there is a silver lining. Democrats will lose 6+ seats in the 2018 elections.

The number of Dem Senate seats that are up for re-election in 2018 is definitely not favorable for them.

I think it's difficult to figure out who will show up for the midterms at this point, though, because it's hard to figure out what Trump will do and who will be pissed off the most. Will it be Trump supporters who feel he abandoned them? Will it be Dems who are pissed because he did the things he said he would?

Another silver lining: You are handicapping your chances by nominating an experienced politician or a policy maker as the candidate. It does not matter how well qualified the person is or how wonderful the policies s/he promises. A lot of voters are low information voters who are rationally ignorant of political affairs, and they will almost always go for who they perceive as a "change" agent. All other things being equal, putting forward someone far away from the D.C. will always have an advantage.
