Damn! This book is pretty sweet once you get a couple of chapters in. 😀

Just got past the story of the Silmarils and am on the downfall of Numenor.

Anybody read "The History of Middle-Earth" books? How are they?

I read 4 of the history books, the ones pertaining to the time period that LOTR takes place in...these 4:

-Vol. 6 The Return of the Shadow
-Vol. 7 The Treason of Isengard
-Vol. 8 The War of the Ring
-Vol. 9 - Sauron Defeated: The End of the Third Age

I also own volumes 1 and 2 which are the Book of Lost Tales 1 and 2, but I have not read those yet.

As someone said there is 12 volumes in total. I highly recommend them if you're interested in the history of Middle-earth!!

If you liked the Silmarillion, listen to Blind Guardian's "Tales from the other side". They basically told the whole story in a metal album. Almost sounds like an alternate soundtrack to one of the LotR movies.

Just got finished reading the LOTR series for the first time and I will be reading these books soon 🙂 The books (especially the 2nd one) are soooooooooo much better than the movies.

Well, I guess I couldn't get a better endorsement from anyone else. 😉
