The Shield Deluxe 2010 antivirus question.

Rated editors choice by whom? I had a hard time finding any reviews (good or bad) about it. I did find a half dozen different forums where you posted the exact same question, though. That makes me wonder if you are fishing for an answer, or fishing for customers.. 😉

Anyway, to answer the question. Why would you pay to use a virtually unknown AV program when you can have Avira (one of the best available) for free?

That's why I am asking. The price seemed to good to be true.
Holy cow, because I am on other forums I am selling this crap. You must be a paranoid fruit cake or something. I don't always get answers and I join forums because some give better than others.

The Shield is junk!!
I used it on another system and was not happy at all.
It allows viruses into your system.

Its just a rebrander of other security product engines or technology. It has used Kaspersky and F-Secure engines or technologies in the past. Not sure what its using now.

So it is a legit company but not a good product. Now I know the real story. Thanks.

As for pay av products, do you guys really believe free is as good as the pay? Don't you get more updates per day, more scheduling options and other things from the pay av products?

I think free is close enough to as good. I use Avira, and I don't find the difference between versions compelling enough to pay for it. You'd have to compare products from each developer, and make up your own mind. The core scanning engine is generally the same from each company. So the free version will have the same quality scanner the pay for version has.
