Right now, I love my computer setup, in my basement, with a big, L-shaped desk, big suede chair, Klipsch 5.1, two monitors, everything. It's comfy and I have lots of space.
But my first year of college is this fall. The dorms are very small. I definitely can't afford two LCDs, and I don't want to lug CRTs, so I'll be switching back to one monitor. I also don't want to lug the Klipsch back and forth, let alone finding space for it IN my dorm, so I will be switching purely to high-quality headphones for audio. And of course my big L-shaped desk will be reduced to a small desk big enough for what I need.
I'll get used to it, and of course the nice LCD and great headphones and all will still be a very nice setup, but it's sad losing my big desk, big chair, two monitors, and my Klipsch. Have any of you gone through a downgrade of your office setup like this before?
Also, this brings up another topic. Of course a desk to use in the dorms is provided, but when I'm home from school, instead of resuming use of my spacious desk and office down here, I will be keeping my setup pretty much the same as in college and putting it in my room. That way my dad and I will no longer share a system (we do now, but it's not a problem, but I have a feeling it would be then), and that way the area down here can stay purely his. So I will be needing a computer desk for my room, which is a very small one. The wall I will be putting it on is only six feet long, and the desk can't be any deeper than two feet! Any suggestions for desks from stores like Office Max, Staples, etc. that might fit this criteria, and maybe even have a few drawers in it, too?
