The Settlers - Kingdoms of Anteria, lol why bother...

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=124194956

Today some german magazines published preview arcticles and... yeah...

http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/die-si...9,3058599.html

for example. Some infos:

- always online (!), cause its a persistent city/world you got (so you don't need to build a new city every level)
- maybe microtransactions like in the settlers online - you can give your settlers buffitems etc.
- your city will be producing goods even if you are offline
- seven hero charakters like knight and beastmaster - all of them got special abilities
- fighting sequences are a mix of rts and dungeon crawler/action-rpg

there is also a gamplayvideo in the article (german comment)

sorry couldn't get past the huge nose ring on the interviewer. What was this video about again?

Looks similar to the majesty series but with more control. Might be moderately interesting if there is enough depth.

If anything, (microtransactions aside) this makes it sound more appealing....

I can go either way with microtransactions, however the always online city builder was already tried with SimCity and was a huuuuuuuge cluster****.

That doesn't mean that it *can't* work - just that EA's implementation stank on ice.

I guess there are no OG settlers fans in here 🙁

Oi!

Played the fuck out of I-III, IV wasn't bad, but I had moved on. I tried one of the later versions (V, VI?), but they didn't do it for me. Knowign what they did to the following games in the series, I'm not going to bother with this release either.

Problem with the online only crap is that most of it is used as a form of DRM and that just hurts the user. And sine it's online only, you may as well buy a digital only version directly from the publisher, which gives them a larger return on the purchase price while hurting the retailer community as a whole.

My dad & I have played Settlers since the first game, also the online version but this will be the first I miss, even though my dad will still get this one.

The whole Online DRM thing is a nothing but greed, really only MMO's require a internet connection. Everything else it's optional until the suits get involved.

Hammered Settlers 1 on the Amiga. Used to play Vs. my Dad over a direct connection (serial or parallel I think, tooooo long ago now) but never settled into any other Settlers game.

Sure it can work, BUT good luck getting those folks into this game that were burned by SC.

And Diablo 3...

I liked settlers III. Am I a bit behind? :awe:

From the trailer tbh I would rather play league of legends for my online combat and maybe prison architect or something for my need to build stuff. I don't find games that stray between genres to be all that good. Do one thing do it right.
