The SETI.Germany vs. TeAm AnandTech race in Correlizer. The goal has been reached!!!

I can't see why they'd be up for such an extension, given that SETI.Germany has created the World Community Grid 7th Birthday Challenge which is set to run from Nov. 16th to the 22nd.

Hows the progress looking today boys? I haven't checked it out, are we picking up steam? I haven't been with the project long enough to tell.

One of my overclocked quads crashed in the middle of the night, and I didn't find it until 8 hours later, unfortunately. Bumped the voltage and hope for a good night run again. 🙂

Sheesh. SIMAP is finally done, it's the weekend, it's a great time for me to run Correlizer, and what happens? "Project has no tasks available." 🙄

Edit: Getting a few now.

Correlizer says the machines are checking in, but they have no tasks 🙁 So I am guessing that means no WU's? I am probably done spinning up VMs today, but I could probably add another 30 cores next week if they have work to do, in addition to the 30 cores I spun up today.

blckgrffn has added a lot (http://svahesrv2.bioquant.uni-heidelberg.de/correlizer/hosts_user.php?userid=1085) but having trouble getting WUs.
Seems like he has 'the kraken' available. :awe:

We've gained ~50k points on SG.

Since yesterday we've been outdoing their production.

Regardless of whether the race concludes next week or not, I will keep a few rigs on corellizer until the F@H race in December.

So how am I doing ? 977 units ?

Shows 40th place for me.

2. Also you can increase the number of times the boinc client talks to the server...I set mine to ~8 times a day. Launch Boinc client, look for the preferences based on your version, select the network usage tab and put 0.13 in the "connect every # days" field, if that value is already resulting in more than 8 calls to the server, I guess leave it alone...you can also increase the buffer if you'd like.
I think this is for limiting the number of times BOINC connects. If you leave it blank it will connect as many times as it needs.

We are gonna need moar cores if we want to catch them in 6 days. Maybe we can go through the end of the month at least?
I think the purpose of the race was to stir up interest to take over and keep the top spot in Corrilizer through the end of the year for the points in Formula BOINC.

As for the World Community Grid Challenge, I don't think we have participated before (we don't have a large presence in this worthy project) and if SG moves from Correlizer to the WCG Challenge we have a good chance of taking the lead in Correlizer and keeping through the end of the year!!!!!!!!
🙂 😱 😉

I can't seem to keep all my boxes occupied with work units, one of them has been showing no work available for hours. Odd because it is side by side on the same network with others with similar processors.

Mark, are you still getting enough WUs?

I think so, look here:

Argh, don't say things like that. The only reason the 1090T in my cart isn't yet in the mail is that it would get here just as the race concludes. And with DDR3 being so cheap... And this NEO HE is a ticking bomb, I really should replace it... Noooooooooooooooooo

This is really frustrating.

I installed BOINC on yet another box (Core 2 Duo) and it downloaded work and started immediately. What is going on? My 2600K main station is idle for hours now with no work, yet a new client gets work? Seems really buggy to me.

If SG shifts their focus to the WCG event, I say we make a hard push in taking #1 in Correlizer. We can do our own WCG at a later date if we want to improve our ranking on there.

It really ramps up after a couple of days

Might be on account of that machine returning erroneous results

Time to up the volts or lower the clocks, methinks 😛

Plimogz - That is the machine I just built for this, so yeh looks like I need to tweak it. But that machine (3089) is busy working. It is 3063 that is idle.

I added two more boxes tonight, both of them loaded an initial piece of work, then once it was finished, they went idle with no work. I've got 3 idle boxes now. This isn't due to errors.

I have a lot more cores, but no point in adding anymore at this rate; I've run out of work to do. Is the thing over, or what? 🙁

Looks like Correlizer can't keep up with the TeAm. I wonder if [SG] has the depth to bring a third wave online.

I have discussed this a little over @ SG.
It seems that we really broke Correlizer - it seems it was not designed for two teams alone crunching approx 380000 credits/day when the rest of the crunching is approx 150K credits. Just now TA and SG crunch approx 2/3 of all WUs.
That takes some preparation from the admins point of view ...

Hopefully this can only be good for the science. Probably means that they could run some simulations that would've been considered too big to attempt before.

Not sure if it's just me but I finally have a queue of workunits again this morning - my i5 was mostly sat idle last night and was getting one or two units at a time every so often. I seem to have a queue of 30 again now so hopefully things are getting back to normal.

Impressive results from the race.
I plan on crunching for another week or so and then getting ready for the annual F@H race. Need to get my 10 smp units folding so I qualify for the bonus points before December 1.

It's great to see all the support from our colleagues at the CPU/Overclocking forum!! 🙂

We've gained significantly the last couple of days. Great crunching TeAm!!😎
