The SETI.Germany vs. TeAm AnandTech race in Correlizer. The goal has been reached!!!

What a shame that the project is still on hold. Looks like the race it pretty much done.
I think the most frustrating part is that we were able to get a bunch of people from the CPU forum to join. Not exactly a good example of how DC races work.

It is definitely a pity the project came to a halt and shortly after we had started to make some gains on SG! :\

Hopefully everyone will understand when we explain it at the end of the race. 🙂

On a side note...I realize I've been quite hyperactive, and perhaps close to annoying, for this race and while trying to pushc for this race...hopefully everyone cuts me some slack in that regard. ()🙂

Anyway I have all my machines ready for Correlizer whenever it comes online. :thumbsup: I am still processing small WCG batches.

On a side note, with the upcoming PG race, we can really show the CPU&O crew what a race can be. Maybe we'll snag 8th place or even 6th place 😛

Can someone start some threads on the next two races (PG and F@H)? If we are going to get some cross-forum participation, it may be a good idea to provide the details early on. I know petrusbroder always does a good job on the F@H race thread.

Something to mention...

Before posting in CPU&O and VC&G, I asked permissions from the admins there. I PMed 'idontcare'. I am not entirely sure if he meant we could keep posting invitations there for all races or if it meant only for Correlizer so that may need some clarification.

Some guidelines about the invitations...these were given to me via PM.
* No cross forum posting.
Example: If 'wayliff' created the invitation thread in the DC forum, he should not be the one posting at the other forums. The same person cannot do it.

* No bumping.
* No copy paste threads. Do not copy and paste the text from the other invites. The person making the post should try to word the new thread separately.
* No 'link to' threads. Do not make a post and simply link back to the DC threads.
* If the mods get any complaints, we'll get locked.
* They will not stickie the thread.

I think that was it. Hope it helps.

Do both of those races support GPU computing? I haven't seen any descriptions on projects in the BOINC client that differentiate...

At least my Phenom 2 x4 Cruncher has a GTS 250 in it, so I should be able to contribute one way or another...

Moved the TeAm from 101st in malariacontrol up to 84th place so far today 🙂

Both PG and F@H support GPU folding. In fact, GPU folding is probably the reason why F@H is very popular. With PG you can make a serious dent with GPUs, especially if you have a nice farm going.

EDIT: I stand corrected. 321 Search (Leonids Challenge) looks like it's CPU only, where as F@H is usually a CPU/GPU event (you'll get more from GPUs).

F@H does not use boinc. You will have to install the f@h clients. If you are on win7 it is nice and simple. I'm currently running both GPU and CPU on my X6. You get some pretty impressive results on the GPU side (my GTS 450 gets some +8k ppd).

I've joined you crunching against Malaria for now. For some reason I can't get excited about testing for unfeasably large prime numbers.

Awesome 🙂 It looks like with a little effort there is a lot of positions to be gained.

I agree. Malaria is a real world problem... a horrible one...

I don't know ... but thinking about that TA's positions in malariacontrol are:

78 - RAC
26 - Total Points

True... On the weekly report we were @ 40 on the RAC basis, now we were 101! I guess getting TeAm up to 26th in RAC again would be a good goal, eh?

There's activity going on at the Correlizer server...not user activity though.

The status of the server shows everything working normally.
Yet there's a post in the message board indicating there's one more thing they need to fix. LINK :\

Hopefully it is pretty close to being available...:thumbsup:

I think that the cpu&O guys probably realize that Correlizer was just overwhelmed by out complete awesomeitude. And SG didn't exactly roll over, either, it's been quite a fun race.

This race has been fun. I suppose that I can start putting one of my rigs onto whatever project the TeAm decides to run, as long as I get input and can get SETI put in the rotation from time to time as well.

<Petrus shakes his head ...>
I have almost 5400 Correlizer WUs "ready to report" ... that is almost 55 000 credits. I don't know how many crunchers over @SETI.Germany have, but considering that Zipspeed, biodoc and RudyToody all have a RAC of over 46000 (together) they should have more WUs to report ... we still have a chance to improve our standing ...
This is a very unusual race.
Imagine: we broke the bank ... I mean the server ...

:biggrin: Hello TeAm AnandTech,
:biggrin: Hello Petrusbroder,

my Congratulations for you, your Team make a very Great Job by Project Correlizer. Sad, but my Group 2nd Wave and Team SETI.Germany Fight now by the WCG CHALLENGE.
:sneaky: I think, maybe now the Way is Free for your Team for the 1. Position.
😎 But not forget, we Come back, when the next Fights are Finished.

😎 Many Greatings [2W]SEARCHER

Wow, so I knew these Dunningtons were slow, but jeeze, they are slow!

For crunching, it looks like my Phenom 2 830 @ stock 2.8 ghz and four cores is good for about the same score as 10 (!) dunnington cores @ 2.4 ghz. Jeeze.

It also looks like vms on ESXi 5 is noticeably slower than the vms on ESX 4.1. I mean, six cores on ESXi 5 have half the average score as those same six cores on ESX 4.1. Same OS, etc.

Now the difference between BOINC-stats and Correlizer-stats seems very

small. Thus the data seem to be correct ...

I for one can't wait for Correlizer to be back up. My AMD cores are seriously sucking at MalariaControl.

its been 3 days since I got a unit, so I turned the computer off.

Let me know when they get their shit together, and I will turn it back on.
