Well you sure do a lot of "responding" to a guy as "irrelevant" as Rush Limbaugh.

Grow up.

Seriously, maybe he defined it better farther down, but we're talking about the same guy who was calling Hagel "Senator Betrayus" so, who cares what he thinks??

Apparently a lot of leftwing kooks, or we wouldn't have this wonderful topic. This is one of the worst out-of-context spins I've seen the libs pull outta their ass in a while. The best part -as I mentioned earlier- is how certain people denounce Limbaugh for all kinds of dishonesty and then proceed to do the same stuff they accuse him of doing. Amusing...

As much as you righties want to think Limbaugh is somehow relevant, he's not. He's even farther out of touch with reality then you are, but please, babble on about the left as you and Limbaugh continue your march into obscurity.

We all know people like you and Limbaugh think we can win this war..... we just can't seem to find the people that want to fight it though?!?!??? Where are the "real" soldiers when you need them? I'm betting their waiting for a "real" war. :p

Yeah, me and Limbaugh are like soul mates

And do you find it odd that you (and other Libs) keep discussing something you claim is irrelevant?

I meant the whole moveon as a whole, but anyway I'll give you a touche and if you don't watch it I'm going to bookmark this and bump it 6 months from now and REALLY condemn people for not letting it go.

Moveon is to the Reps what Rush is to the Dems. Everyone needs someone to point and laugh at.

No need to let it go yet, the dems are placing their foot firmly in their mouths as we speak, Reid just wrote a letter to Rush's bosses at clear channel demanding an apology. this can only get better.

"On Friday, many Democrats joined me in drafting a letter to the Chief Executive Officer of Clear Channel, Mark Mays that we will send out this week. Here is what we wrote:

"Dear Mr. Mays,

'At the time we sign this letter, 3,801 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq, and another 27,936 have been wounded. 160,000 others awoke this morning on foreign sand, far from home, to face the danger and uncertainty of another day at war.

'Although Americans of goodwill debate the merits of this war, we can all agree that those who serve with such great courage deserve our deepest respect and gratitude. That is why Rush Limbaugh?s recent characterization of troops who oppose the war as ?phony soldiers? is such an outrage.

'Our troops are fighting and dying to bring to others the freedoms that many take for granted. It is unconscionable that Mr. Limbaugh would criticize them for exercising the fundamentally American right to free speech. Mr. Limbaugh has made outrageous remarks before, but this affront to our soldiers is beyond the pale.

'The military, like any community within the United States, includes members both for and against the war. Senior generals, such as General John Batiste and Paul Eaton, have come out against the war while others have publicly supported it. A December 2006 poll conducted by the Military Times found just 35 percent of service members approved of President Bush?s handling of the war in Iraq, compared to 42 percent who disapproved. From this figure alone, it is clear that Mr. Limbaugh?s insult is directed at thousands of American service members.

?Active and retired members of our armed forces have a unique perspective on the war and offer a valuable contribution to our national debate. In August, seven soldiers wrote an op-ed expressing their concern with the current strategy in Iraq. Tragically, since then, two of those seven soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq.

?Thousands of active troops and veterans were subjected to Mr. Limbaugh?s unpatriotic and indefensible comments on your broadcast. We trust you will agree that not a single one of our sons, daughters, neighbors and friends serving overseas is a ?phony soldier.? We call on you to publicly repudiate these comments that call into question their service and sacrifice and to ask Mr. Limbaugh to apologize for his comments.?

LMFAO. time to sit back and enjoy the hijinks about to ensue

EDIt: rofl, the hijinks have already begun! the likes of moveon/soros has funded a commercial about it!

Clear Channel CEO Rebukes Reid

Ouch. That's gotta be tough for Reid. It'll be interesting to see if Reid pushes this any further

The guy made excuses for Rush Limbaugh. You lose credibility immediately with junk like that. It's about as sad as pimping Michael Moore, Mike Savage, or any other extremist nutball.

I guess you read right over the part of his letter mentioning Air America. the only thing he "made excuses" for is freedom of speech. if you're against that, then....

Rush is within his rights to verbally assail Soldiers who do not share his views and we are within our rights to label him an asshole for it.

How ironic that Clear Channel makes the case that they won't censor their on-air "talent" yet they have previously suspended Stern and fired Imus.

I guess it's pretty easy to see where Clear Channel execs stand on issues.....

sex == bad - must be censored
stupidity/right-win partisanship == good - please continue

Don't waste your breath, your talking to the 20% that still support the war and are rooting for "Fred".

The best part of that full quote is that he says no R's are for withdrawal, except Hagel. Hagel's position is that of the majority of Americans, and the same as the Democrats.

That's certainly the most revealing part of this saga,

Hagel's withdrawal = winning with honor

Democratic withdrawal = doing everything possible to lose.

Lindsey also said within 90 days is the Iraqi's don't show political progress it will be time for a policy change. Which means withdrawal.

We are little more than 1 year away from the election, time is running out.

Oh please. Rush's comments were taken entirely out of context, as usual.

And how ironic that you left-wingers who profess such love for Freedom Of Speech and use it as a defense at every turn now condemn Rush. It really shows what partisan hacks you are.

I'd say for the most part he still is a democrat. He is a RINO, but the problem is the alternative next year is scary. Al Franken or some other lefty whackjob. I hate RINO's but I am sick of washed up has been actors\celebs representing this state in some fashion.

btw what is it with quote being taken out of context that gets stoneburner so dedicated to defending the indefensible? He was in here a few days ago blabbing about Bill Oreilly being taken out of context and trying to pass it off as truth.

Makes you wonder.

The problem with agreeing with Rush is timing. And sooner or later some hard core Limbaugh listener will meet some neighbor's son or daughter who has indeed returned
from Iraq sadder but far wiser. And when that returning vet says Iraq is a lost cause, suddenly its very hard to call some kid you watched grow up a phony especially when they paid their dues. Its that gradual process that doomed the Vietnam war although the draft helped. I fully expect Iraq to be the same. When the military comes back soured,
not even Rush can save the day.

Not a problem. As long as the soldiers never return, this will never happen.

If rush was taken out of context, why did he re-air EDITED versions of his remark on whatever network is broadcast to the soldiers?

Why would you censor someone who didn't do what he was accused of? I actually listened to the transcripts; helps when you have a Rushie at work, and it was plainly obvious to whom he was referring too.

you obviously didn't listen to the whole thing let alone read the transcript, as such your just ignorant. You are a perfect little parrot for the Media Myrmidon brigade.
