just proof people will bitch about anything..
and if you are like me and bought it at release.. it FUCKING IS FTP now..

F2P = you go to their site, download the client, then log on and make an account to play. Example: World of tanks, mechwarrior online, Granada Espada, etc etc.

F2P != buy the game from a store, enter a code to create an account/character and then log on to no monthly fees. Example: FF14, Guild Wars 1 and 2.

You can't call a donkey a horse when it's 2 different things. Just learn the term and deal with it. Proper topic title should be "The secret world now has no monthly fees".

I read that AoC got updated so much that it's pretty good now, but I have not tried it yet.

That's what I heard as well, but the game left a bad impression on me that I'm not willing to jump into another one of their games when it's not free.

I like how 'completely' is in all caps to emphasize just how free to play it is! :D

You wanna bitch about the terminology use OT since they are much more argumentative there.

Ok, so the OP understandably messed up his terminology; that's fine.

So you still have to purchase the game before playing it. Just like 99% of all other games. That's fine too.

Having never played TSW, my question is: Once you purchase the game, is that all you need to do to get full access to the game's content? You buy it once, and you're done? Or are there micro-transactions in the game as well?

If you have to buy the game, and then continue spending money in-game to get special in-game items, that's a bit lame.

From the link, there is a store and "optional subscription" to get store-bucks so I'm guessing there are cosmetic items and/or convenience items.

If I'm reading the article correctly, you might also need to pay for new story content -- they mention existing owners getting the next bit of content free, but I didn't see "all content forever free"

So you buy the core game now, then probably buy expansion packs later.

In contrast, Star Trek is really "completely free to play" - download, pay zero, play all seasons / episodes. For solo and co-op you'd ever need to spend a dime unless you want a specific uniform (like mirror universe Empire) or for some slightly better ships that are not needed for any of the content.

It is decent after the upgrade.

Still barren as hell though.

its not that barren. problem is, is that they implemented quick ports to dungeons so you never see anyone in the hub cities and rarely see anyone in the low level zones.

It's an incredible value right now. It really is a great game and a lot of fun.

I just wish it was more sandbox style and the pvp was better, but the rest is so good it keeps me playing.

How is it as a solo RPG?

I enjoy Star Wars TOR, but I play it for the solo story content not for the raids / operations / group stuff or the endgame gear treadmill.

I would say the solo RPG aspect is about the same as TOR. I would rate the story and voice/acting miles ahead of TOR though....and I like Star Wars stuff in general.

^^I'd guess anyone designing a subscription based mmo should have a f2p plan B. Lets be honest currently any monthly fee mmo has a 75% chance of failure within the first 6 months.

Pretty tempting for that price and no subscription fee.. For anyone here that plays it, is the population sort of still ok for this game?

Edit: Looks like the sale lasts until Jan. 28th.

LOL, OP crying like a little bitch after it was pointed out he did not have a clue what F2P vs B2P was. Instead of just admitting he was wrong, he tried "keepin it real" and got schooled. Always hilarious when it happens on the internet.

It went from, "You're wrong, I'm right." to "Well, you may be right but I'm more right." to "Fine, call it whatever you want, I'm not wrong." and finally "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!"
