Yah I saw those earlier ... not sure if I like it in that color or not though ...

To play devils advocate (and the side I was all along thinking this wasn't really coming out, but facts now look as though it truly is right around the corner), what's to say those aren't just dev xbox360's? not to mention, there is no shot of the rear HDMI port on it, which I would think would be a focus of some spy shots.

Supposedly, the dev kits have other defining markings. Such as the larger hard drive enclosure as seen in pics here.

What the previous poster said, also note none of those pics of dev kits have the silver front like the orignal premiums. You know it's coming bro.

Has anyone seen them for order anywhere, yet? I really want to buy this from Costco for the great warranty, if possible.

Another month of waiting... boo. I'd pay $600 to have it right now.

So is it going to be possible to just swap out the old 20gb HDD with a larger laptop drive instead of paying an incredibly inflated price for the official HDD offering? That's the only thing I want from all this hooplah.

I don't think so. I haven't heard of anyone being able to successfully pull this off. So far the 360 has been resistant to pretty much all forms of hacking.

Here is my response from the official xbox thread, which includes a quote from someone ...

Bad business decision IMO. While its a nice upgrade for the technically inclined (i.e. AT, AVS, etc. type crowds), a larger hard drive and hdmi output means practically nothing to the billions of people currently without 360's... the market Microsoft should be targeting. Already, Sony has shown the $400+ market for consoles is for fanbois, rich kids, and idiots. I could see this entering at the $400 price point with the premium moving to $300 and the core going away, but this just has flop written all over it, which is a shame, as Microsoft's been pretty smart so far with the 360.

Yup, this is the exact reason that when all these rumors were floating around abou the Elite, I was always skeptical. It just makes absolutely no sense for MS to do this from a business perspective.

But yah, I officially eat my words, although it still is just a bad decision from MS' part based on price alone. Had it came out at $400, I could understand ... but to up the price? Just a bad move.

Not to mention ... $180 for a 120Gb hdd? Yah ...

I strongly doubt it, not any time soon. There is already ways to get very VERY specific larger hard drives to work on the Xbox360, however, you can only use 20Gb partition (99% sure that's all you can use) from them. But it was only like 1 specific brand and model #.

But maybe w/this new one, someone will find out how to use 120Gb partitions from third party hard drives. Only time will tell.

so is it confirmed to retail for $479? If so I sure hope they continue to release the premium and drop the price on it. But I am betting that won't happen till the end of the year anyway. I was waiting for the new rev to be released to buy but if its just gonna cost more and the old revs are gonna cost the same it looks like I will be waiting alot longer.

Since I'm sure you're including me in your target sights due to my recent comment about wanting it now, I'll bite...

Eh, I think I'll be happier with my 360 Elite (which will be my first 360, I'm not upgrading) than just about anyone spending time going into video game threads telling people that they have no life because they're looking forward to a video game console.

Other than that, do the words "pot" and "kettle" jog your memory of any old sayings?

I wonder if the HDMI connector will plug into the same plug as the component and vga cables? If so, I see no reason to upgrade because I haven't filled close to the entire hard drive. Although if it's like the leaked photos and there is a separate HDMI connector, then I think more people would upgrade...although I'd be disappointed, I'd stick with my component connection.

i kind of wonder how it will do pushing full 1080p in gaming. i have seen a few fps drops @ 720p in graw2 in mult--player, not a big deal and it only lasted a second here and a second there, but still drop to the point where you can see it, so probbaly ~10fps, and again @ 1280x720, so wonder how it will be @ 1920x1080.
