You don't feel you got screwed? This is a good news for me since I don't own a 360, but I would think some owners would feel some kind of resentment since their less-than-a-year-and-three-month-old system is so much inferior. HDMI and larger HD? Hell yes!

I would not feel that way.

If they do release a black one with those features, I will definitely be buying one.

meh i know the guys who post for gamersreports.com and i even post on there myself sometimes, and I can tell you ... it's pretty much pure speculation at this point.

if you guys didn't know, dev units are black and can have as large of a hard drive as they want in there, so I mean, this kinda seems like it's just another dev xbox360 gone wild.

I wonder if this will drive down the price of current regular 360s...

No, i don't feel i got screwed. But i'm the generation where we see better products every year.

And i don't care for HDMI. I much prefer the VGA connection, since it frees the HDMI connection for other things. And as for the bigger HDD, again, i don't care, since mine isn't even at full capacity yet. If IPTV becomes more popular and i need it, then i may upgrade, but at this time, the 20gb is more than enough capacity for me.

So, in your estimate you don't think there info is credible. Have you talked to them today about the info?

Awww, you guys are so understanding. Why do I get the feeling that if this was Sony, people would be like, "Fvckers screwed us! They should have had those features when it launched the first place! We were guinea pigs!" :D

Well I believe that the inside source told vividbreeze (the poster on gamersreports who posted that) about this information, however I do not believe that it's true at all. vividbreeze has some people in europe and oversees that he talks to (he always posts the weekly release stuff for europe) so I believe he actually talked to someone.

However his tone in the IRC channel from the comments he made after he posted that were basically saying that he was told this but he didn't really believe it was 100% true by any means. However he clearly states in his post to take it with a grain of salt and it's more of a rumor.

I am not mad or anything because I still believe this whole Zephyr thing is 100% bogus.

See that?s where I'm different there are too many of these stories at this point for me to believe there is no teeth to it. MS has acknowledged that they have at least tested the waters with some of these features, but deny they have a new SKU in the works. My thoughts are a new HDD is almost inevitable and these stories of a 360 2.0 version only compliment said belief. Overall I'm still 50/50 on it.

Nope, don't feel screwed if true. As long as they give me the option of upgrading my current 360 to a larger HDD, I'm fine.

When will this be released?

I don't understand why people are getting so upset. Did everyone get upset when Sony released a small PS2? Or when Nintendo came out with the DS Lite?

The HDD I don't have any doubts about, I'm 100% positive there will be a larger HDD in the near future. The SKU for the larger 256Mb mem card is a sign they are working on larger storage devices. The HD movies/tv shows is another sign a larger HDD will be needed.

However I still strongly still don't think they will introduce another SKU. They already have all they need for this generation - a $300 system that can be upgraded to be a top of the line HD DVD player and gaming console if need by.

Also considering all of these pics were from prototypes and dev units, I don't see why people are thinking they will release these "new" 360's to the public.

those didn't come out w/in a year and a half of the systems launches. not to mention, the ps2 slim has absolutely 0 features new to it from the original ps2, and the same thing goes for the DS lite other than the physical size and brightness of the screen.

Heres hoping for a 65nm CPU and 80nm GPU to drop the temp and power consumption.

I dont see the 90nm overheating versions out now lasting more than a few years.

Alright, fair enough. Well let me ask you this, do you believe the current 360s have the needed hardware to run all of the functionalities and software for the upcoming IPTV service, save the size of the HDD?

In all honesety I have to say I haven't been following the whole IPTV thing and don't really know much about it, so I can't really answer that question.

Another thing I forgot to mention ... no offense to Austrailians, but why would MS release this new black Xbox360 over in Austrailia first, when the US is their biggest market? That doesn't make sense either.

Yes. Don't need to have any sort of input beyond a ethernet port. Already have the outputs. Only thing that is needed is a software update.

size of hdd isn't an issue. IPTV doesn't need a hard drive, content will be streamed in the right order at the right time to make it work properly. that's pretty much how your digital cable works, and it requires no hard drive. it's also why the IPTV people want lots of QoS (which they're not willing to pay for so they're trying to get congress to pass a law saying that ISPs have to provide it).

the content providers may require a secure connection, so HDMI would be needed.

Removed hard drive functionality, built-in ethernet.

Ah, interesting. I was wondering about the whole digital rights stuff and the need for HDMI or not, but I knew a HDD isn't necessary although they're talking about having PVR functions with this thing (IPTV) I believe. So that is one of the main reasons I'm wondering about a need for an actual hardware revision.
