WMD's still exist.........

...........in the mind of neocons and zealots across America! Face it, many of the P&N crypto-zealots still believe in WMDs. As long as they believe in it, they exist-- just like their god.

Maybe a small minority actually believe they exist, the rest are just too stubborn to admit they were wrong- especially on this forum.

More from the Whitehouse comment today:

McClellan said, referring to preliminary findings from last September.

Duelfer reported then that Saddam Hussein not only had no weapons of mass destruction and had not made any since 1991, but that he had no capability of making any either.

Bush unapologetically defended his decision to invade Iraq.

Bush has appointed a panel to investigate why the intelligence about Iraq's weapons was wrong.

================================================================
I wouldn't be surprised if that "Panel" is made up of the FLL P&N Elite here.

When in doubt, mumble. When in trouble, delegate. I don't think this issue is going away anytime soon, not while we have people over there dying every day.

A mere Panel? Isn't it time for the Bush administration to create a "WMD Committee" loaded with upstanding representatives with the correct establishment pedigree like the 9/11 committee?

Why does everyone keep talking about WMDs?

Everyone knows that it was Sadaam who attacked us on 9/11, just ask anyone that voted for Bush.
If the majority believe it, it must be true.

*runs back to ATOT*

and remember the threads shortly after the war, the daily "did they find wmd's today" threads, and rememeber how people responded, quite interesting

And now it's time for your neocon flashback moment!

The year is 2004. The poster, heartsurgeon. The claim: the US found WMDs when it came upon a couple sarin shells.

Flash forward. Crickets from long-standing WMD faithful...

Iraq had something to do with 9/11.
Those Muslims believe virgins are in heaven and they will kill us to get virgins.
Saddam Hussein was a bad man he had to go? Africa who?

This war was bankrupt from the beginning. It's unnecessary and unwinnable.
But I don't think it's enough to just say they didn't find the WMD's. This administration needs to account for where every piece of WMD went. Was it destroyed by Saddam , is it buried in the sand, or did it fall into the hands of terrorists. If it's the latter, we need to know and as soon as possible. They expected that much from Saddam, and they should hold themselves to the same standard.

I hope this somehow opens a few eyes around here.

This president, and his administration, are the most inept and deceitful I can ever remember. History will show that the lot of them were an embarrassment to this country. Sadly, because this jackass was an elected official, it speaks very poorly of the American citizenship.

All of your posts in this thread, if not something else, seem rather celebratory. If that is the case, please tell me, what great victory have you won with this news? 😕

Truth over lies.

It's almost asinine to believe this was even a mistake. Consider all the resources at their hands and technology, it's hard to believe it even was a mistake. That is somewhat at the base of this. If not an outright lie, one that was mollycoddled and passed around to keep the stain of it from touching bush. But quite likely total BS to start with. Just an excuse to give at the time for ulterior motives, one they knew without a doubt they could just spin and twist to avoid accountability. Of course this being endorsed by a blindly willing, easily manipulated supporting voter base.

Yes, they claimed there was WMD, it wasn't found. They need to find where it is.
They need to either explain why there wasn't wmd when they thought there was, or if there was, they need to account for where it went. It's not enough to say they didn't find any. They need to explain why they didn't find any.

Just a minor correction ST.

It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

They never found the Camels that launched the WMD either

Don't forget they are Proud of being Blind, willing and easily manipulated AKA Brainwashed.

I think it is more a question of the wrong justification for the right war. Quite honestly, I felt that Saddam Hussein needed to go...I was not particularly satisfied with the antiseptic occasional bombing runs that we used to slap Saddam on the wrist during the 90s.

The UN has been baby sitting Iraq for the past ten years, quite incompetently I might add given the whole Oil for Food fiasco...and how many Iraqi children died of malnutrition, starvation or lack of access to medical care because the international community felt sanctions were more humane then military action.

I think we were right to go into Iraq...I think we were wrong to go at it alone, and without the support of the international community...then again, many of our supposed Allies seemed to be profiting quite nicely from the status quo, so there really wasnt much of an incentive to fix things.

That being said, WMDs was the reason the Bush administration initially gave for going into Iraq...we have all known for some time that this was a poor and unjustified reason to go to war, but given that this past year was an election, does it surprise anyone that they waited to make the "ooops we made a mistake" announcement well after the election.

Given all the dirt we have on Hussein, and his dealings with the UN, we had plenty of justifications for going to war...unfortunately, the Bush administration was too impatient to wait for the true smoking gun, and impetuosly went to war fueled by the fervour created after 9/11.

Obviously, there are only two explanations for those that see this as a truth or lie issue.
People that think that there never was any WMD, think that it was a lie. People that do not think that it was a lie, believe that they just haven't found any. Either position is defensible.

What is the great victory with the news that the people that believe that they were there, have discontinued the search?

Do you derive your truth over lies from a conclusion that there were no WMD, or from a conclusion that because the search is over, and none were found, there were no WMD?
