Arstechnica gives a great run-down of an interesting article in the highly scientifically prestigious journal Science. Now we just have to wait and see if all of their work can be replicated or if this is a lot of fancy photochopping.

That's actually pretty cool. I wonder if increasing the rate of fire of POMC neurons increases the release of POMC derivatives - that would be rather unfortunate, I would think.

Hah, almost forgot I started this.
I myself am curious if cigarette smokers have any adrenal dysregulations, but that sounds like a paper for another time if any clinicians want to add further fuel to the fire against big tobacco. I just want something that will convince patients to stop smoking and this kind of news is not likely to do it.

Still, I agree it is very cool science. We'll all have to keep an eye on this melanocortin 4 thingy and what the heck is going on there.
