The thing is, in this society, and all others, men want younger, hotter models, whereas women want men with money.

If a random, attractive girl (who you thought was very sexually attractive), and says let's make love, you would do it so you would spread your seed.

I don't know, Geekbabe. I guess it depends on each individual. Some people end up alone and some don't.

My parents are about to celebrate their 50th... my grandparents did, as did most of my great aunts/uncles and aunts and uncles. They always seemed affectionate, and didn't seem to mind the fact that they were aging. I grew up with old people, old couples, widows, widowers... love is what you make of it, I think.

Sad thing, my Auntie Bea (a Portugeuse from Boston!) died one month before their 50th wedding anniversary. And Uncle Frank mourned for a while and then started dating. And you know what? I know Aunt Bea would have wanted it that way. She was very loving. I can just hear her Boston accent, telling Uncle Frank to get out there and meet a woman to keep him company! And he did. :)
He's been 'living in sin' with his girl for over a year now. They won't marry because of Medicaid and all that. They are in their early 80's.

But anyway...

I wish you love and comfort Geekbabe, at every age. :)

I know it sucks Geekbabe, but only because society is holding up a twisted mirror for us. Don't let it fool you.

You can only perceive real beauty in a person as they get older.

Oh Isla, you're wonderful as usual but I don'r buy that you get old you turn invisible that's just how it is.

Invisible to who, Geekbabe? Wankers who are looking for fapping material? :p

You won't be invisible to your children and your grandchildren, and those whose lives you have touched along the way. And does anyone else matter?

Nope! :D

That's all fine and dandy but who wants to live 35+ years like some sort of asexual rock that never gets touched or wanted?

Geekbabe = cougar ;)

Chronologically I'm 39 but socially I'm probably stuck at 16. Sad but true.

This is one of the reasons I use the old woman icon.

I don't want to be ruled by the measure of youth and beauty. I want my voice to be heard, and I want my spirit to be what people remember about me.

I also find it distasteful to use 'feminine wiles' to get what I want. I can... but I'd rather not. I don't like myself afterwards. Manipulating 'The Dumb Stick' is, to me, disrespectful of men and also far too easy. I prefer an intellectual challenge!

If I could be a Greek Goddess, it would be Athena. She was beautiful, but she was known for her wisdom more than her beauty. She helped Perseus kill the Gorgon, she gave Athenes the olive tree, etc etc. All anyone remembers about Aphrodite is that she was hot and caused a lot of problems. :p

Something about that statement bothers me, maybe cause its true idk it just comes off as haughty to me. Then stating i prefer an intellectual challenge is furthering the "game" aspect of the sexes where its all a battle to get her to like him etc etc. Yes i know i read way 2 far into that statement, o well.

*drops 2 cents into the bucket*

Maleficus, this is what my husband tells me... that is is easy for women to manipulate men sexually. I'm not being haughty... I'm going by what I've been told by one of your own.

Feel better now? :p

I wasn't neccesarily disagreeing, idk something about that statement just rubbed me the wrong way. :\

If its rubbing you the "wrong way", maybe you are standing too close to your monitor. And maybe you should consider putting pants on....

it's still a male dominated society, and men always want someone younger, more beautiful.
Society has nothing to do with it. Its the damned testosterone, man.

Are you saying if our society were matriarchal in nature that men would then prefer older hags? Sure whatever pal!

If this was a matriarchal society, old women would have trophy studs.

No?

Absolutely, and those trophy studs would have their younger 'thangs' on the side. No?

Hmmm. Well, I guess it depends on what kind of premarital agreement the old lady's laywer worked out? :p

Ah, this is all so cynical!

I figure it this way,if somebody doesn't want me because I'm too old, well let em step on down the road and go get whatever sweet young thang it is that they do want and desire.Just leave me alone about things I have no control over and cannot change.

Btw,that dragon avatar is sweet looking, hadn't seen it before!

Probably a lot, but don't even attempt to argue the point with either Dr. Phil or Dr. John Gray. Between the two of them, they have less testosterone than the aforementioned Bo Derek.

Don't even get me started. My gf loves Dr. Phil, and it's seriously pissing me off. I just think the fact that love and sex are so inextricably linked causes more harm than good since it violates the most primal male urge.

Dr. Phil is a tool and deserves to be given a dirty sanchez
