The Samsung Exhibit 2 is a beast for $50

I just got one and I've been completely happy with it. I got it for $50 on a one day sale about a week ago. Now it's back up to $75 but it's still a steal at that price. These prices are without a contract by the way. I unlocked mine for $15 using FastGSM and put on a custom ROM. Soon we will have 100% stable ICS ROMs on this phone.

Anyhow I just wanted to share. I think this phone is the best value of all smartphones right now. It supports the 1700mhz band as well if you want to use T-Mobile or whatever as well.

Curious, where did you get it for 75? I see it for 250 at TMO, and 189 at Walmart.com.

For ~75, I'd consider picking one up and test driving TMO's Monthly 4G plan for a while.

I got mine for $189. I would love scoring it for $75! Will Amazon price match it? Hell I would have loved picking it up for $50 a week ago which is around the time I got this phone. :\

Also it's been re-branded as the Galaxy Exhibit 4G

At Future shop through Virgin Mobile it's $0 with a $150 tab but they give you a $75 gift card so it works out to $75. It's in Canada though; I'm not sure what you guys have in the US. I thought stuff in the US was always cheaper than here *shrug*. Like I said, mine came with a $100 gift card so it worked out to $50. It's a steal. The best thing about it is that it runs on all the new networks; it supports pretty much every carrier on earth.

Virgin Mobile is CDMA in the US, sadly.
Yes but you can unlock it and there is no obligation to them whatsoever! You buy the phone, call Virgin, switch to prepaid, pay off the $150 tab, and you're done!

Then you just use FastGSM to unlock it for $15, then you can root it and install a custom ROM.

At that point you can use the phone on any carrier you want. I think it would work on *any* carrier in the US.

I'm currently playing with CM9. Nice to see that the phone can handle ICS at least. Seems pretty snappy. Hopefully Jelly bean will be smooth too.

Haven't noticed any major bugs yet. Except the camera which has already been listed as something being worked on. Just messing around with it.

I think next I will try Rebel which is Ginger bread with an ICS skin and features.

Then I will check out Peach Sunrise too.

These seem to be the roms with the biggest buzz for the phone. However I may look at the others too.

Peach Sunrise V2 RC1 just came out and it's working great for me. I like the Peach Sunrise ROMs because they are 100% stable and all the features work properly. It's like running stock but without all the bloat, plus with some new features.

Your summary is accurate though. I too am very impressed with CM9/ICS on this phone; it runs super fast and super smooth. If it were more stable and had the camera I would use it. Hopefully it will be ready soon.

The problem is, VMCa wouldn't sell to a US address. So you'd have to get it from Fleabay and therefore wouldn't qualify for the deals you're describing.

And in the US VM is CDMA, so they don't carry any of the same phones as in other countries.

So what I'm saying is, this is a deal only for America's hat.

Sorry guys. I was not trying to create a "troll thread"; usually stuff is cheaper in the US compared to Canada. I got the phone for a hot deal and I was sharing was all.

Hopefully my deal was a sign of things to come in other places.

I should also add with the stock firmware I couldn't play GTA III and Netflix would not resume after pausing. Seems fine in CM9. Well sometimes fast forwarding and rewinding in Netflix will play the audio and the video will be paused but that could be the beta status of the rom.

It seems like all the apps load quicker too. Not bad at all.

Trying Peach Sunrise now. Just something about Rebel....

Think I will stick with Peach Sunrise for now until CM9 RC releases on this phone.

I might check the other Roms out too.

It's not so much that it's cheaper in Canada, it's simply unavailable at all in the same way.
