This might be a strategy designed in part to help get coke products into schools (or stay there).
 
Anything that the Coca Cola makers can come up with that increases their exposure on grocery shelves the better. The whole "New Coke/Classic Coke" was a brilliant marketing stragegy. By having multiple products like this, they increase thier product exposure. i.e they take up more space on store shelves. less room for competitors.
