The salaries they offer for the IT positions on craislist are laughable

Tell me about it. I applied for a job and I have MCSA and VCP 4 and they replied back to me saying I am a good candidate for 13-16 hr lol

It's just not as valuable anymore. Nerd is the new jock. I see middle-school kids posting insanely complicated computer video tutorials on Youtube. It's just reached the point where everybody's doing it, so our IT salaries are taking a huge hit 🙁

I guess it depends on the position.

position and location?
link?

I was just browsing chicagoland jobs. Really not hard though, go to your local CL postings for IT positions and laugh at the salaries offered.

I'm thankful for my government IT job, I'll probably be holding onto this job for about 50 years...

LMAO

Hey, at least you'd get to use your VCP. I'm sitting here doing bank app support because people who have less experience in VMware "like it" and they have seniority over me.

I don't know where you guys are coming from. Quality IT people are very hard to find and are paid very well. But they are experts at certain areas and demand a high price. People that can walk into an environment, plot the direction of a specific technology for them and tell them how to realize efficiencies or business integration through technology.

There is a big shortage of good IT talent these days and that's why the good ones are paid so well, there's too many positions for the people that can do it. Couple that with business have been putting off capital projects the last 18 months and yet the work still needs to be done I'm seeing the market getting ready to explode here soon so be prepared and get those resumes ready because it's coming fast.

a rare moment but I do agree with you.:colbert:

I agree with spidy on this one. My brother in law worked for a company for more than 6 or 7 years until they gave him a respectable salary.
