Favre clearly misses Rice and Taylor. Berrian was a complete no-show and Harvin can't carry as a #1. Also Taylor was his favorite 3rd down target. Without him they will have more stalled drives.

He certainly does, but he also has not been there very long to get in a rhythm with the guys there. Berrian was useless though and once the Saints took Shiancoe away, the offnese completely stalled aside form a few short runs from AP. :\

Sucks that I have Favre as my starting QB on my fantasy, but I guess its better than my backup Chad Henne.....

Can't quite figure out how the saints made it look "easy" outside of the first drive. The Vikings O lost it for them, the D had the saints held to the lowest number of points for a win in a while.

You'll see Favre start to spread it around. Overall it wasn't a terrible game for the Vikes. It certainly proved that Brees and company could be shut down quite effectively. If we had some CBs in the game they wouldn't have even scored the two TDs.

The Saints had 14 points bobbled out of their hands by their own receivers in the end zone, and 6 points in missed feild goals. Both of those dropped passes in the end zone were catchable, and 1 of the 2 field goals were more than makeable. That's 17, possibly 20 points the Saints missed out on because of themselves, not because of the Vikes D.

If you really want to spin it the other way to make you feel better about the loss, then go ahead. But in turn, I could just as easily spin it the other way for you. It wasn't the Vikqueens offence that lost the game, as you put it, rather it was the Saints Defence who shut the Vikes O down.

See how that works? Not trying to flame, just trying to make a point. It's all about how you look at it :)

Anyone with a brain knew the Saints would win. Favre didn't have enough practice with the new guys, ankle still not 100%, didn't go through training camp, just wasn't prepared.

Pretty much agree with that assessment.

The Vikings offense just didn't play like a well-meshed team.

Yeah, the Saints screwed up a couple things... then again, the Vikings did too. There were some drive-killing penalties against them. A third-down pass ruled incomplete that Childress challenged and it was still ruled incomplete despite the replay showing fairly clearly that he got his hands under it. A dropped INT.

There are always several mistakes that each team makes in every game. Go ahead and argue that the Saints could/should have gotten an extra X number of points, but the Vikings could/should have gotten an extra Y number of points.

I'm not arguing that the Vikings are better either. The Saints dominated most of the game. Vikings had some decent defense part of the time but near the end they kept giving up first downs on the ground and eventually allowed the Saints to run out the clock. They had a strong running game but then just stopped giving the ball to Peterson for some reason. Losing Rice hurts.

Mostly-unrelated note, god damn there are tons of Saints themed ads. I know, they're the reigning champs, but it gets really old. Especially since everyone seems to hate the Vikings solely because they don't like Brett Favre being a drama queen.

Everybody loves a winner ;)

And as far as the rest of your reply... it's like I said, it's all about how you look at it.

Not to defend Favre, but he is known for his slow starts over the past 5-6 seasons. I wouldn't worry too much about having him as your starting QB yet. ESPN had a listing of his first game stats over the past 6 seasons on earlier today and he's had 6 TDs, 6 INTs, and averaged 150 yards on those games.
