the S2000 would spank the mustang around the track like a punk bitch girl.

Not in drag tests, or off the line, but everywhere else it would plain out dominate.

Umm... no. The s2000 does have a much more rigid suspension. When you add aftermarket parts such as eibach springs, subframes, brushings, bigger and stickier tires... the s2000 loses. Not only that, the s2000 might win in the curves but in the straightaways on the track it would kill it. The FR500 mustang has a 50/50 weight balance. I can turn my stang into a FR500 for a small amount of cash. I would still have less money in my car than an s2000. A mustang is more fun on the street.

Torque=Driving fun.

1) The S2000 has a 50/50 Weight distribution also.
2) Win in the curves? Yes. Competitive in the straights? Goddamn right. How many horsies does the Stang have?

You could always buy a Lightning. Don't know why but I like Ford. Best thing in Alabama is that they don't have emmissions checks. So, unless I get busted by a bored cop, I should be ok.
What track do you race at?

The GTs have 260, the Cobras have 320. Mine has more. Also horsepower is not all that matters. Torque has a lot to do with acceleration. The s2000 has a small powerband and is a vert. Vert's flex way more than a coupe even with subframes. The GT would be pressed to beat a S2000 on a track because of the live axle, but I am sure it would not be that hard to do. The Cobra has IRS and will eat the s2000.

if you truly want to compare.. why not use a NSX vs. Mustang/Cobra?

S2k doesn't have the torque.. i agree.. and it's not the flagship sportscar for Honda.. which is the NSX

but i think the aftermarket can change it perhaps.. since there are aftermarket stuff coming out.. like superchargers.. so that the S2k is at 340bhp. and the Type-V s2k with VGS steering.. makes it like a F1 car almost ;)

personally.. i have a S2k.. i like it for what it represents.. a sports coupe.. i'm not truly a fan of big engine american cars.. but..hey.. thats what i like ;)

For the Price of the FR500, I can get a Corvette Z06. I'd rather have that than a souped up pony car. BLECK! For $50K, I can get a moderately new Acura NSX. The NSX hailed as one of the greatest supercars to grace the planet.

For 50K, I could buy a Boxster S and have money left over for some after market parts. Not like it needs it.

For 50K, I could buy a whole lotta things before I bought a 'stang or camaro.

LAUST,

I want a whipple supercharger oh so bad...how much more power are you putting out compared to stock?

The FR500 does not cost 50k. You are thinking of the Cobra R. The FR500 is not in production. You can turn your mustang into a FR500 though. It is actually not too expensive.
