It brings SS and Medicare cuts into serious discussion for balancing the budget and that's what needs to be on the table.

You have separate LINE ITEMS for the taxes for SS and Medicare. The money taken out goes to those programs, not the other programs you want to pay for instead. Cutting down on SS/Medicare does nothing for the budget. It's smoke and mirrors to cut taxes, but have people spend more money on a less efficient system that generates a profit.

You have this backwards. The more efficient your system is, the higher the profits you can make on the product. If it cost you $100 to make a product, and you sell it for $101, you do not make much profit. If you become more efficient and make that same product for $50, you can then sell it for $80 and make a large profit while reducing costs for the consumer.
