My first time stepping into the new corvette, that was my same thought. Not so much the look (yes, it does look very similar), but the feel. It reminded me of the cowl position of my dads RX-7. You sit low and somewhat reclined in both cars.

That's ironic you mention that, I recall in a preview of the new 'Vettes in a '96 (or was it a '97?) Car & Driver, the writers mentioned Chevy had seemed to borrow some design cues from the RX-7. It's easy to see why with the doors looking so much alike.

Could someone please point out a single styling cue on the current Vette that is not from older Vettes?

Mazda ripped Chevy when they designed the RX7. Put all of the RX7 generations next to each other and you have three completely different cars(minus the Wankel). Put the Vettes next to each other and there is a very clear "evolution".

Try sitting in a '68 Vette.

Actually, the Mazda RX-7 evolved from the 1976-78 Cosmo (whose looks were borrowed from several cars and also a throwback to the RX3/4 series). There is a clear evolution in the Mazda series also.
