the rubber thingies on my hdrive work!

when i bought my 2 seagate 5400rpm ata66 15.3gb hdrives it came in rubber thingies around the hdrives. i took them off because i thought it would insulate the heat. today i got bored so i put the things on. the rubber things made my hdrives very quiet. i can barely hear the hdrive noise when its loading something(you know that tapping noise when you start a program). now i can sleep better🙂

Yeah those drives are made out of aluminum so they don`t get as hot. I`ve got a few 4.3gig`s here. They are nice drives.

The fact that they aren't very hot probably has more to do with only spinning at 5400rpm than what they're made out of. What are most hdds made out of?
