When was the last time you heard of aid money being stopped due to corruption? This money opens the door for US in foreign territories, I'm sure US would prefer it to go towards physical and human infrastructures but ultimately they don't really seem to mind who takes it - as long as American interests are maintained.

So we buy lipstick for the pig? That's a good deal.

There's this strange belief that the "peace process" is supposed to lead to peace. That's never been the case. It's purpose is to keep full scale war from breaking out and that's it.

How about we completely ignore them and instead reward countries around the world that do what we like?

Good luck with that one. They sit on the world's oil and gas reserves, and in Africa they have pretty much all the rest of the stuff the west consumes.

Besides, radicals WILL get to you, no matter what you do (see 9/11 and the Afghans).

It's not even that, there's very little that's worth the carnage of an all-out war between two industrialized nations. It's a photo-op for politicians and that's about it.

Israel hasn't solved the problems, nor have aid dollars, nor has anything else. When does it sink in that we're trying to get the people causing the problems to solve them?

I dont think you realize where Israel's aid money goes.

first of all, 2/3 is spent in the US in military installments.

the rest is for israel to use in defense research, etc.

the money as a whole is given to protect israel from destruction.

it is also a way to hold some restraint on their aggressive neighbors

In short the FGD position is that if only Israel invests all its bucks in its military, it can some how stave of the the hatreds of everyone it screws.

The last two ancient small countries that tried that strategy was Sparta and Roman era Israel itself.

Lots of large countries in the more modern era have tried the same strategy also, but its never worked yet. And its especially never worked if the respective country does not seek converts to increase its population while converting the conquered into allies.

As long as Hamas and Hezbollah run around chanting 'death to the jews' the Israelis can do just about anything they want and get away with it. And the US will back them as well.

But if the Palestinians actually got serious about peace THEN Israel would have to change its behavior.

Luckily for Israel the Pali's don't want peace and all this talk about 'peace' is just BS and a way to waste time and make Israel look bad etc etc. Case in point: Arafat was offered everything he wanted and he walked away from the table.

Keep in mind that these Pali groups keep their power by pushing this 'war' between them and Israel. If the war ends then their reason for keeping power would end as well.

How does it sound crazy to you.

Take some sports team, any sports team for example. Their fan base may want them to win some given game, and sometimes their fan base gets the taste of sweet victory and at other times only the taste of the bitter dregs.
