Nobody will automatically get my vote. I'll read and listen, then decide.

At first glance, I seriously doubt he'd be worse than what's currently going on.

He's a massive dude, could be like: Scared Straight: congress edition.

Even as an actor and former wrestler, he'd still be a better President than Trump:

- He actually has compassion for people other than himself.
- He accepts basic concepts of objective reality... like, you know, science.
- He would agree that loyalty and what's right are not necessarily the same thing.
- He doesn't throw temper tantrums whenever people criticize him.
- He wouldn't appoint people who are determined to undermine the work of the agencies they run.
- He doesn't rely on a single propagandistic cable TV network (plus the occasional bit of Breitbart/InfoWars crap) as his source of information.

In short: Johnson would beat Trump simply because he's a decent human being. A pretty low bar to clear, but one he's clearing nonetheless.

Yeah, no!

I'm glad that trump has lowered the bar for being president so much that anyone thinks they can be president now.

We certainly don't need a real life president Camacho.

Not that it matters much to me, but would be interesting to know of the party that he would run his campaign from.

Basically speaking, as with every other candidate that ran as a Republican starting with Reagan, what they offered to the blue collar working class folks was a huge stinking pile of candy coated bullshit, while giving themselves and the aristocrat class they belonged to every single thing they could possibly get away with and then some. That it still works so well is still somewhat of a mystery to me as I still can't believe that folks can be so ignorant, so oblivious, so willfully induced into a state of denial and alt-right alt-reality, that they would keep buying into a blatantly obvious false bill of goods, a plain and undeniable case of bait and switch.

So if Johnson ran as a Repub, he'd arguably have to run his campaign the same way, given the propaganda induced desires of the base that's already in place and the ideological bent that he'd be obligated to swear allegiance to.

If he ran as Dem it would give him free license to argue for and be a rather compelling proponent for the wishes and desires of the working class folks who would rather vote for a person that serves their economic interests rather than some singe issue that was overly hyped and blown way out of proportion to the actual benefits that the Dems have fought for and achieved for the working class.

That both Reagan and Trump has shown, celebrity status is an important influential factor in winning elections and something that can't be ignored when considering the viability of a candidate's chances toward being a winner. IMO, Johnson's chances of bridging the ideological gap between the parties at the voting booth has a much higher probability factor than Hillary or Bernie ever could muster. This in itself is a huge plus for Johnson no matter what flag he hoists and rides under.

That Johnson has for the most part presented himself as a person who is free of issues that could damage his chances at the polls is another plus in his favor.

Proviso: I'm framing my comments around the fact that Reagan had, as with Trump at present, created a new sense of what's normal in the world of politics irt what is plausible and acceptable in the here and now insofar as what we expect in the way of qualifications for the job.

I didn't read these however the first msn.com story was nothing but click bait. The Rock never stated he was even interested in Politics he just said if he was President he'd act this way.

I am concerned that a bunch of Actors start thinking it's a good idea to run for President due to Trumps success but that's a different discussion

No more celebrities for President.

Makes sense to me as far as Trump and Reagan is concerned, although my primary concern for a candidate of any local, state and national office is that they NOT be for, by and of the aristocrat class, especially so if they hail from Wall Street or Big Business.

Isn't getting a wrestler as president one of the signs of idiocracy? That being said, he cannot possibly be worse than the ambulatory dumpster fire we have in office now.

Now Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson says running for president in 2020 is “a real possibility.”

Al Franken is a pretty decent senator, so being a celeb shouldn't necessarily disqualify you. What should disqualify you is being an ignorant douche bag.

With signature moves such as "the peoples elbow", who could object to this

Morans in here actually debating this. :worried:

I don't think any of us here is seriously debating whether or not he'd be a good President. Of course we'd rather have someone with genuine political experience and vision.

Also, there's a tremendous irony to your complaining about this when you cheerlead for a celebrity President who's still largely clueless about how politics work.

Oh look - some left wing idealogue took exception to my post because his TDS forced him allocate (re: waste) more than 2 minutes on clickbait nonsense.

I notice that you didn't actually have a defense for yourself. When in doubt: ignore your own hypocrisy and shift the blame.

How miserable IRL are you?

Be honest.

I'm actually quite happy in real life these days, thanks. I'm not seriously thinking of The Rock as President. I'm just amazed at how someone can dance so wildly around their hypocrisy rather than confronting it!
