ok guys, I have an msi 4200 ti chip that had died, i dont know why i have no clue... im sorry to say that it broke after 5 hours of use, and it was a trade...

I called MSI to get my RMA number and everything but how long does it take for them to reply?

how long does the process hold like how long do they inspect the card for?

and when do they send out replacements or do they repair the item?

also if it is broken and its a ti 4200 4x agp do you think they going to send me an 8x agp cuze they dont make 4x agp any more.

no clue how MSI does their RMA's, but with newegg it's usually takes about 3 or 4 business days to get the new item back once they have received the bad item from me.

I don't know about MSI

my personal experiences are

Asus = advanced RMA shows up next day (if you pay shipping), or 2-3 if you don't
BFG Tech = same as above
Maxtor = same as above

ATI = 10 days after they get your card

PNY ..... took me 12 weeks to get them to send me a replacement card that actually worked. 6 RMA's

Ask MSI about advanced RMA it's worth the effort.

Did you only use the card for 5 hours and it broke? If so I would return it to where you got it from.

While on the subject of RMA's, I was wondering what people's experience with NewEgg was when you're trying to get a defective product replaced with a different product. It states in their policy that this can't be done but I'm hoping in some cases it can. I finished putting together my new P4 rig tonight with an IS7 and 2 sticks of Corsair XMS PC3200 and can't even get stability at the normal settings... I suspect the RAM is the culprit after looking through forum posts. I really would like to replace the sticks with Kingston HyperX if that will solve my problems.

sorry, this won't be happening. Newegg only replaces with the same item. Funny you say it, but I just sent 2 sticks of 512 MB Kingston HyperX PC2700 back b/c of instability issues. Hopefully the new ones will work better.... Maybe we can trade if the new sticks are still hooped. But, you probably want PC3200.....PM me if you are interested...I'll have the new sticks sometime next week.
