Paul Krugman (Nobel laureate and frequent writer at The New York Times) published an article in The Times the other day concerning the Republican right's abandonment of America's impoverished children. The comments as well as the article were excellent.

They need to be protected from being exposed to anything other than traditional 1950s-era white conservative culture values. That's... well, that's about it.

More examples of GOP policy choices not protecting children.

In Texas (of course) a family goes outside to their front yard to celebrate New Years Eve. Right at midnight, a person or persons in the neighborhood starts firing off a gun, likely in celebration of New Years. A stray bullet hits and kills their 11 year old daughter,

Who fires guns in a residential neighborhood to celebrate? Idiotic, drunk rednecks. That's who. Who supports having zero restrictions on gun ownership and carry? The same idiotic, drunk rednecks who can't be trusted with their firearms.
