It would be different if this was an option.

Instead, they have the delusion of making every game on their system use this "revolutionary" new piece of sh!t.

It should have a standard controller for most games, with this as the option for 20 games.

20 games is probably all the support this system will get.
its been confirmed that the gamecube controller will be compatible.
pwned. lol

I seriously think that Mister Miamoto is smoking heavy crack.

Nintendo have forgot that KIDS will play with that system...

LIke everyone else, my first reaction was wtf. But reading about it, I'm honestly very excited now. This really is a revolution. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Face it, games for the revolution are going to be very, very different. I think thats a good thing. We have xbox 360 and ps3 for "standard" games. Nintendo is going to show us a whole new way to play...how can that not be exciting? Finally a decent way to play fps and rts games on a console. Racing and flying games will be a no brainer. This will probably open up whole new genres of games that haven even been thought up yet. If it needs an improvment, Id say the only thing to do would to add the snes buttons to the bottom of it, not just a and b for nes. Not only will that make snes games far more accessible, but it seems lacking it buttons from the get go. But that might just be old thinking. As much as I want the xbox 360 and ps3, this is what Im drooling for now. I want something new dammit, and here it is.

Nintendo stockholders should be furious. The morons running that company should be ousted by stockholder rage.

Profits and sales are going nowhere, and the companies leadership is busy with artistic experiments?

I used to feel sorry for Nintendo, now I hope Microsoft and Sony absolutely crush the company to punish them for being so retarded.

Innovations are for companies that can afford to take a risk. Nintendo is under the delusion it can afford another console bomb. With the PSP soon set to annihilate the gameboy and dominate the mobile market, Nintendo needs to make money in it's core business now.

These people rest on their 15 years of domination, they're in for a rude awakening when the money runs out, their reputation is in ruins, and they can't turn a profit in any market.

If Nintendo listened to it's fans instead of Miyamoto's artistic ramblings the company would be in far better shape. Microsoft could make billions if it had what Nintendo does. Nintendo is a poorly run company, plain and simple..

Delta Airlines enters bankruptcy, announces new plan to shoot people out of cannons instead of fly them around in airplanes.

Ford continues to be pummeled by import brands, announces plans to create cars that run on sunshine and happiness and are controlled by telepathy, not steering wheels.

Do you ever see that sh!t?

Nintendo stockholders should get out now or demand leadership focused on PROFIT, not sh!tty ideas of artistic expression.

Yeah because we all know that making the same product as everyone else is what's PROFITABLE.

amdforever2 has no fvcking clue. Nintendo has put cash in the bank consistently for the past decade. They have huge cash reserves, and come the new generation of consoles, they won't be loosing $100-$150 per console like Sony and Microsoft.

As a business, Nintendo could do better, but they are still minting profits like nobody's business.

That earns them the right to be innovators in an uninventive industry. Oh gee, what's new with the PS3 and XBOX2? Faster CPU? Check. Faster GPU? Check. More memory? Check. Well pack that sucker up, it's ready to go. And when the PS4 and XBOX3 comes out, what can we expect? Faster CPU? Faster GPU? More memory?

Analog stick...rumble feedback...wireless...all features you will find standard with the new controllers from Microsoft and Sony, and all features Nintendo introduced or introduced properly.

I won't judge until I've tried it. God forbid we reward innovation by giving it a fair chance to see if it works or not.

I have a good feeling that it will work. From the reviews I've read, from the descriptions of the demos, it sounds like this is another breakthrough. It "just works".

wow...this controller...really unexpected & cool & excited

that video...just think about controling character movement with analog stick while using the controller as a sword...or a gun.

i think this controller makes sense. while current generation of game system has gone 3D (in terms of graphics & physics),
controller has been stuck in 2D mode for a while (analog or digital, it's still up down left right)

it'll be interesting to see PS3 & XBOX360 duke it out w/ pretty graphics & physics while nintendo just do their own thing.

i was like wtf at first but after seeing the video that might be fun. throwing a pass in madden with the right amount of touch, swinging your blade in soul calibur, driving with the controller and maybe using the analog stick as a stickshift, there are some real possibilities. i'll have to try it out and see some games first but i think i will give it a shot.

I have owned the following Nintendo consoles(in this order):
NES
Super NES
Gameboy
Gameboy Pocket
Virtual Boy
Nintendo 64
Gamecube
I have owned the following non-Nintendo consoles(also in this order):
Sega Dreamcast

After reading the articles, and watching the videos, I've got a feeling I won't be buying this thing. It looks like it could be fun for a limited amount of time, but it seems gimmicky and that the fun would wear off. If its released at $99(which it won't be) I'll get it, but it looks like I'm headin for the PS3.

That said, amdforever2, you're an idiot, and an anti-nintendo fanboy. At least have the sense to keep your mouth shut before you make a fool out of yourself.

interesting idea but why the fvck is it designed like a remote?

also what about 3rd party support? i know i will be playing the following games
mario
zelda
metroid

but what about other games?

It's a better powerglove without the glove. You even have to put sensors on your TV for this controller, ala powerglove. We all know how well accepted that thing was... and how well it really worked with games. In the video shown, all you hear is conceptual audio on how it could be used. I cant wait to play a game where I use a flyswatter to smack flies, or instead of pressing a simple button to make mario jump, I've gotta flick a whole controller upwards. Sorry, but that's just not going to cut it. Also with the analog controller extension, I really hope the final version has a longer cord than the one in that video because I could totally see people playing their game and ripping the extension out of their own hand.

Sorry Nintendo, I love your first party games, but I dont think I'll be buying into this unless it's $100 out of the gate... which it wont be.

very interesting.

and you know what, i'm looking more forward to this than the ps3 or xbox360. this is a chance for something new and not the same old rehashed game just with better graphics.

i'm going to give them an honest shot. i mean, they are the company that introduced the dpad, shoulder buttons, the analog stick, rumble feedback, rf wireless, video game gun, brought video games into the horizontal world (super mario bros), and brought video games into the 3D world correctly (the N64 mario).

I'm sure people complained about the Dpad when the original nes came out, im pretty sure that that the execs at atari were laughing about it not having a joystick. just look at the number of controllers that now include an analog stick. i could go on but there's not need. This might really be revolutionary.

Plus, it can still take regular controllers if needed.

Looks insanely cool.

To the naysayers: Watch the video and open your minds. Nintendo are about games, not specs or 'Mature' ratings. Some people seem to have forgetten what games are all about from the BS I read on here.

Nintendo is going down. It's 8 billion in reserves can only compensate for so many fvckups in a row.
LOL, your original post was ripped to shreds so just post a little baseless rhetoric!

Im not really sure where the hatred for nintendo comes from. Maybe its a different generation. I grew up as a little kiddie with the nes. Since then nintendo has ALWAYS been the innovator, with everyone copying them. To me, this looks like another thing that nintendo is simply ahead of the game with. Like someone else said, they were the first out the gate with the dpad, everyone since has copied them. Game boy too. Light gun. Hell, they even had the power pad long before ddr came out. The power glove did suck, but that was like 20 years ago. There was also the piano, which I cant remember the name of. Then genesis came out, and what did it have? Better graphics, pretty much everything else the same. Nintendo came out with snes, and had an 8 button controller, and mode 7. Took sega forever to copy the controller and what did they come up with? The sega cd and 32x, which both bombed. PS and saturn came out, and they both had pretty much the same controller. Then nintendo brought analog sticks, and everything copied them....again. Dont forget 4 controller ports. Rumble pack. People seem to only remember the virtual boy for some reason, but since the beginning of time, nintendo has been the innovator, and everyone has been copying them, and for the most part, their innovations work, and everyone copies them for the next generation.

Now heres something thats more innovative and will change the way we play games more than all of the above combined. It has the potential to bring you into the game far more than anything else that has been tried. From the sounds of the articles, the controller is extremely precise, and thats what matters. To me, even though it may not have better gfx than the ps3 and xbox 360, this is the real next generation. And its so radical, so different, that its almost pointless to put it in the same category at the others. Its like a totally different experience, not to be judged by the same criteria as the others. The haters will always hate. By 2008, sony and MS will probably have hacked together their version of it, playing catch up.

Q.F.T.

haha, you guys that are saying Nintendo is losing money...

I'm definately more excited now than what I was before the controller was revealed. The flashlight part of the video immediately hit me with some kind of horror game that could be possible, or an FPS game to play online.

Nintendo has definately revolutionized gaming. An article did say that the controller could change a little bit since it's not in it's final stage.

I'll give a good hearty laugh when some of you get stuck playing a 4 player/controller FPS or Sword game to a 13 inch screen in a cramped dorm room

I think this is pretty cool. I'm always up for a new play experiece. I have been so bored by the news about the xbox360 and the PS3. It looks like the same old stuff with better graphics. Oh boy, another GTA, oh boy, halo 26. There is not much reason to buy those systems other than for more eye candy. If it wasnt for sony and MS's marketing department, no one would really care about their new systems. If the teenie boppers of the world weren't so caught up in the system spec hype, they would see that the next gen consoles from MS and sony aren't really offereing anything new. At least nintendo is giving us something different. The controller does look stupid, but after reading the article, it sounds hella fun.

Do you think they made that money off Gamecube and N64?

They didn't. They made it off gameboy, and PSP is taking half of Nintendo's share in the handhold market, looking at DS and PSP.
