The Republican Party of VA SUCKS!

I believe that the red light cameras were installed or at least decided to be continued during the McDonnell Admin.

Lights, lanes, and signs are proven to be dangerous or at least cost the tax payer money with no benefits (http://campaignfordemocracy.org.uk/directdemocracyexamples/localdemocracy1/). It pisses me off to no end. The Virginia Legislature could sell the pieces of shit (at least the parts or the recyclable materials), save money, and make some money and even make the people safer (imagine that!), but they choose not to.

Notice I'm even using a source from a place called "campaign for democracy".

The VA Republicans and their emphasis on public safety makes me really angry (http://blog.motorists.org/red-light-cameras-increase-accidents-5-studies-that-prove-it/).

Central planning is not only unethical, but it always fails. Always.

Move to the Boston area, people here ignore red lights, lanes, stop signs and more! It is traffic anarchy!

Oh yes, rise up against the evil tyranny of stop signs and traffic lights. They're just the man holding you down.

Like with many of the things you write, your post has one nugget of truth (red light cameras suck at reducing accidents compared to proper yellow light timing) and the rest is a big stinking pile of bullshit.

red light cameras have been a huge issue here in houston.
story about the shitstorm
cliffs: everyone hates them, city signed a long term deal with the assholes peddling the things, city referendum told the city to cancel the contract, federal judge says the referendum can't overturn the law

Aren't the red light cameras often installed and ran by private companies, splitting the proceeds of the ticket with the city that forms an agreement with the company? I heard that once, and meant to look at because if so, that is total bullshit. Hope I am wrong on this.

Sounds about right.

Sadly, that's correct.

I will never understand why you aren't banned yet.

I would rather not pay an increase in income or sales taxes.
If red light and speeding cameras are the way to prevent that, then so be it.

If people are too stupid to get a GPS, go to http://www.poi-factory.com/poifiles/us/red-light-cameras and install the files on your GPS.
I've been doing that for 3 years now and never got a ticket.
Red light cameras: "Caution: You are now approaching a red light camera"
Speeding cameras: "Mobile police radar ahead"

These cameras are never about safety. Anyone who tells you that or actually believes so is a complete idiot. Plain and simple.

Also, a tip for Maryland drivers:
The speeding cameras only take a picture if you're going 12+MPH above the posted speed limit. A speed limit sign of 30MPH, I drive 40MPH even if it has a speeding camera present.

There's a reason they are known as Massholes.

OP: are you old enough to drive?

So long as red light cameras are substantial revenue generators I would expect their growth to increase, no matter how much people bitch and moan about them.

I'm old enough to drive, but I don't want to drive. Partly because my parents would only spend like $7k on a car for me and partly because I don't want to get an accident and hurt someone else or their property. I just feel that I would be an awful driver.

They're also only revenue generators for a few private companies, so that means taxes stay high in virginia.

Easy, don't run a red light and you will not receive a ticket/fine.
That system is unethical. What's wrong with running a red light if you're not aggressing against anyone's property?

A self-proclaimed awful driver who thinks it should be OK to run red lights? wtf?! 😵

Have you ever even had a job and paid taxes? If so, why would your car funds be limited to your patents' money? Besides, what the hell is wrong with a $7000 used car?!

I'm actually glad you're too dumb to drive...

Could you live with the fact you killed or seriously maimed someone due to running a red light?
I couldn't live with having killed someone.

I only volunteer so no, I've never paid taxes directly (other than VA sales tax), although I'll have to get a job soon because my parents won't be millionaires 25 years down the road from now. However, one could say that I pay the inflation tax, because the few dollars I get from helping out at home is worth less and less by the day. Most people suffer from taxation because tax revenues are used for destructive purposes when that money could be left in the market so that people can save and lower prices or invest in things that will improve the quality of life.

Since I've never had a job the car funds are limited to my parents' money.

1. You've never paid income, property, FICA, or other taxes, yet you feel your VA taxes are too high? Ok, fair enough... goofy, but still fair I guess.

2. Even if they were millionaires, or would be 25 years from now, wtf does that have to do with you yourself getting a job?

However, one could say that I pay the inflation tax, because the few dollars I get from helping out at home is worth less and less by the day.
I didn't realize that VA had any direct control over "inflation tax" -- whatever the f*ck that is...?! Are you referring to inflation itself? If that's what you meant to say, then blaming "the Republican Party of VA" for general inflation is just plain ridiculous... are you a Special Needs student?

exactly which tax(es) are you referring to? Which ones are too high? All of them?

Since I've never had a job the car funds are limited to my parents' money.
1. how old are you?
2. Again, what's wrong with a $7000 used car?

(Note: $7000 happens to be higher than the price I paid for my first two used cars combined -- purchased in 1990 and 1991 for $2300 and $4500, respectively. Unlike you, however, I purchased those cars using my own money that I had earned since I began working at age 13. I know that crazy concept is strange to most young folks today...)

You can't be real, this has to be an elaborate long term trolling attempt.

I never said that VA sales tax is too high. It's probably the least harmful tax. Now the food tax (especially for prepared food taxes) is different though.

See my profile for how old I am. I don't want to drive because I think I'd suck at it, and I don't want a used car no matter how well it works.

Yes, I meant inflation. I never said that Virginia has control over inflation.
Although actually it doesn't mind getting its revenues in FRNs.

I'm referring to all taxes when I say they're too high. Pretending it has a proper role, the Federal government still shouldn't take anymore than 5 ounces of silver from anyone per year. Virginia shouldn't take more than 10 ounces of silver from anyone or any business.

I'm a college graduate. Yes I was in special ed ("emotionally disabled") from the second grade through the 12th grade. I've never been diagnosed as LD, although I sure feel like an LD ass sometimes.

If my parents weren't taxed and if there was only deflation for the next 25 years, then I would never have to get a job. They have about $1.3m in savings, although they're about $250k in debt, so they have about $1.05m in savings.

PM me if you need any more personal info🙂
