They called me at about 7pm yesterday. Apparently they are really hurting. They wanted me to give $100. I make $12,000 per year, I'm sure as hell not going to give *them* any money, much less $100.

I should have told them I was a communist or something. Maybe should have tried to recruit them. It started out with:
"Hi, how do you think President Bush is doing?"
"Ok, I guess", I said
"Good, we need more people like you!"

Nah, you just have a simplistic view on how things work. With the advent of stricter campaign finance, individuals are limited to 1000$ donations, the parties and the PACs can give 5k. This is, of course, only for an individual candidate.
