Not sure you get far suing the Rally Driver or Rally Team and I hope you're being facetious about suing the dead but you can be sure the rally promoter and government agency that permitted the race will spent time letting the courts figure it out (Unless Spain has one of those 'you can sue us' limitations in place).

and this is why you don't stand lining the road on a rally car race. surprised it hasn't happened more

Happens a lot more than you think, multiple times every year for the last few years and then I gave up checking. You just don't hear about it because it's always in out of the way places.

"during a high-speed rally in Spain."

...as opposed to the more common "medium-speed rally".

Oh, it gets better:

"There were no safety barriers in place to separate the spectators and the track."

Unlike any other rally, where the provided trackside seating is stadium-like behind deep catch fencing.

Yeah, you'd never catch me standing alongside the road during a rally race. No thanks. I mean this one didn't even have barriers in place:
There were no safety barriers in place to separate the spectators and the track.

the dead should sue themselves for idiocy.
sure the race organizers should keep people away from dangerous areas, but from my point of view if you chose to stand next to where a rally car will come running at 200khm, WHILE PREGNANT, you deserve to get Darwined.

Think they're going to have to call in the NTSB on that one! Do those cars even have black boxes, we may never know the cause! 😛
