The reason i like punk: Its so cool bobing ur head to it really fast....hiphop is too slow do that and look cool... What do u guys think?

I like it cause of the lyrics, though some of the new "punk bands" aren't too great. There are some pretty good ones out there. I enjoy the Ataries, Less than Jake, Taking back Sunday, New found glory... the list goes on and on, there are tonnes of good bands, and most punk is more original than some of the other music types.

Only if its over 150bpm. Only way its acceptable...otherwise the neck damage isn't permanent.

God, punk is so damn annoying. All of my friends are uber obsessed with New Found Glory, Good Charlotte, etc. I guess that maybe this isn't real punk or whatever, but every song they listen to, no matter what the band is, sounds the exact same. It is the same lyrics, the same whiny voice, the same chords, the same fvcking song. Punk is not even a good song either. If I was a genre comprised of a single song I would at least make it a good one. I guess it is more image than anything, rebelling against society and all. All I know is that these bands make sh!tloads of money playing their song Punk.

maybe Good Charlotte's songs sound the same, i don't listen to them. i listen to Pennywise, NOFX, Sum 41, AFI, the Misfits, Ten Foot Pole, Thrice, lots of other bands, and their songs definately don't sound the same. Pennywise's kind of do at first listen but they write some damn good songs. i guess if you were new to punk or didn't listen to it much, you might think songs sound the same but listen to it some more to appreciate it. when i first started listening to it i didn't think it was that great but over time i came to love it.

all the new fake punk bands sound teh same these include anyone who is on MTV. Good Charlotte, Sum 41, New Found Glory...... they all suck and sound teh same

good punk: pennywise, NOFX, bad Religion, LTJ, The Ataris, AFI's older stuff ........ the list goes on for a while. these bands dont all sound teh same each has their own distinct sound. the songs are damn good and some have amazing lyrics. dont piss on it untill you listen to teh real stuff

Ihave actually started to listen to punk, but again, it's not the type of punk you hear on a pop station, that's more pop-punk.

My personal favorite right now is the getup kids (I love the Mass pike song!) and brighteyes.

It is nice to hear band names like Bad Religion, NOFX, Pennywise and Ten Foot Pole mentioned.

It is so often that people base their opinion of a genre of music on what the radio and TV gives them. People who say that "all punk songs sound the same" don't have a damned idea what the hell they are talking about and have never really listened. Their impression of punk music is the idiots playing dressup on MTV (read: Good Charlotte, etc).
