The really strange things cats do.

Well, for those of you who know about yesterday, my cat Peanut got into some really powerful catnip or something attached to the catnip that caused him to wig out and get stoned. Well, I've picked him up from the vet and he seems to be doing ok. However, now when he gets up and starts doing something, it's like watching a computer with a case of periodic lag. He'll move about 20 feet, then suddenly stop and stand stiff as a board in mid stride or mid motion like someone hit pause, he'll stay like that for about 20 seconds, then move again and be fine for about 20 minutes, then do it all over again. It's just too weird. But at least he's feeling better...I think.

And yes, the vet knows about it but says that I shouldn't worry about it. *shrug*

A few months back I came into the bathroom and found him sitting in the bathtub about shoulder deep in warm water enjoying the fresh bath I had just drawn obviously totally oblivious of the fact that he's sitting in water. The bath tub is the kind with the built in jacousi (sp?) jets and those were running at the time. So the summary of the story is my cat was sitting in my jacousi tub enjoying the bubbling water. hehe. :)

It seems like all cats do weird things. My cat has a weird fascination with plastic bags. If she sees one she goes up to it and starts licking it crazily purring happily. And she likes to take naps on them. Does anyone else's cat enjoy licking plastic bags?

Poor Kitty, sounds like he's still hung over. I know I like sitting in a Jacuzzi after a hard night of partying.
Peanut must feel the same way. :D

Actually, he did that a number of months ago. He's always been a little weird, but after yesterday, he's really buried the needle on the weird meter.

Nooooooooooo, can't say any of my cats do. I did have a cat who would go apesh*t if you walked your hand forward like the fingers were legs. (I have scars from it) Another one of my cats eats anything you give him, and yet another likes to drink water out of the tap. Oh yes, one of the kittens used to clean the insides of my ears and nose with her tongue in the morning. Cats are just weird. Don't try to understand them.

One of my cats love plastic bags. She doesn't lick them but she is much happier when she can sleep on them

My new cat has a facination with my face. She likes to paw at it and get really close to my face whenever possible

My cat enjoys attempting to eat plastic wrappers of all sorts that find their way to the floor, namely straw wrappers, I then have to chase him around and get it away from him. We have these cat scratcher box things I think from Target, that have catnip in them, so one of my cats scratches it and rolls around on it all day.

mines the same way.
one of my cats will paw open the closet, drag out a shoe box, pop the top off it and cry until we take the shoes out so she can sit in it.

Well, no cat stories here (I'm allergic to them, sorry) but I do have a couple dog stories:

My old black Lab used to like beer. If we ever had a barbecue or any party outside, he'd drink anybody's beer if they were dumb enough to set them on the ground. After two or three he'd just stagger over to a vacant corner of the yard and pass out, sound asleep, for a couple hours. Always woke up fine afterwards though.

The best story I've heard though comes from one of my friends, who's dog got into som pot...and I'm not talking about the kind you cook in ;) . He ate some of it before anyone could stop him, and ended up stoned off his ass for most of the weekend. That had to be the most easy-going, mellowed-out dog I've ever seen. Hungry SOB, too. He'd eat every bit of food he could find. Of course, when it started to wear off, he went a little wacky. For a few hours he was barking at people that weren't there :). He'd just randomly run up to the window and start barking.

I think most of our cats used to do that when they were kittens. The two current kittens love to dive under any of our throw rugs and roll around, batting at nothing in particular. It's pretty adorable actually.

One of our cats loves to chew on plastic. Every time we bring groceries in, we usually end up yelling at her to stop eating the plastic bags. Silly cat.

Does anyone else have cats that love shoes? One of the cats I have now loves to rub against my Doc Martens when I take them off. The wife says he has a leather fetish.... :D

Cats are just eccentric by nature. I could sit here and type for hours about all the weird stuff the cats I've had over the years have done. For example, one of my cats now eats practically anything you give her. Among the things she's eaten:

A marshmallow
Avocado (my wife was making guacamole and dropped some on the kitchen floor)

I can't figure out if she just does this stuff because she's still a baby and curious (just turned a year old in June) or if she genuinely likes this stuff. My parents have a cat who LOVES peanut butter, for some weird reason but she's 5 years old or more.

LOL...I had a cat that loved drinking out of the faucet. He'd get up on the bathroom counter while you were getting ready or something and wait for you to turn the water on. He didn't have a problem with the water bowl, but he liked to drink out of the faucet as well.

::sigh:: I miss him. He died last year...

Yes actually. The one who drinks from the tap loves to stick her nose in leather dress shoes and play around them. She also gets all purry when she's in a bathroom with anyone for any reason, particularly if she hops in a bathtub. (empty, she hates getting wet)

when i get home and take off my sandles, my cat is all over them. she has her face through the straps and all the way to the toe part in seconds. she just rolls around and purrs on them until she falls asleep.

my cat likes to eat newspapers. He'll just sit there rippoing them to shreds and eating them.
