Wouldn't it be ironic if the Shiites screwed up Bush's plans for re-election They must be aware that they have a lot of leverage this year. The Shiia are known for patience but they must have their own timetable in the powerstruggle over Iraq. So far the Brits have had it relatively quiet in the Basra region but it appears as if the Shiia are beginning to put the pressure on. If Bush wants to bring troops home soon he cannot afford too much trouble in Iraq. The Shiia know this of course.

Actually I think Israel is more in danger of selfdestruction than being overrun by a foreign threat. It will be some time before the Shia will be able to form a direct threat towards Israel.

Israel really has no long term future im afraid to say, the current birth rate and population explosion of the Palestinians is easily going to over run Israel in a generation or two. Its the fastest growing population in the world, around 12-15 kids per woman on average compared to the Jews 2.2 average, and cause of that Palestinians will be the majority WITHIN Israel [not counting the west bank and gaza] by 2025.

I agree, the way things are going over there it seems like it's just a powder keg waiting to blow up. There will have to be some huge peace settlements made and it sure doesn't help that a good number of people on both sides don't want to give in an inch. We also have to at least make it look like we are neutral rather than be best friends with Israel.

Palistinians are Arabs anyway, most of thier thier ancestors went to Israel in the 20-40's after the european jews made Israel a wealthy place again. Many of the so called palistinans topday are really of african, egyptian and chinese decent...they are not native to israel and are not related to the philistines like they try to say.

If you know some Israeli history then you would know that the Romans, when they conquered Israel had absolutely no encounters at all with anyone claiming to be non-jewish. according to Rome, Israel at that time was a exclusive jewish enclave, and that included Jordan,the west bank, gaza and the Golan heights.....so it seems that only after Islam was dreampt up, and the resulting hordes of fanatics that poured out of the Arab peninsula did israel start having religous problems again.

Painting Dean as a guy who failed to appoint minorities in Vermont is more than just a little disingenuous- the whole state is whiter than white, with blacks and hispanics combined being ~1% of the population. It's not like Dean made it that way....

I'll allow the charge some credibility when black and hispanic Vermonters claim they've been mistreated or that their interests were denied... and back it up... Like they do in Texas...

Wow, thats awful. Do you know if immigration will be improved to Vermont if Dean is elected ? I think mass immigration to all the states is what is needed nowadays since there is no point in letting some areas of America be gifted by Diversity while others are remain lilly lilly white and ignorant.

Plus, there are lots of Chicos and chicas who need jobs in mexico and they should be given the oportunity for that.
