I could be wrong, but I'm thinking you need to check your sarcasm meter.

....which led to the great GOP electoral successes of 2008? :hmm:
Look at what happened in this forum and consider it a microcosm of the mentality in DC.
Their was more glee with sticking it to the Reps than concern about doing it right. We had the "well we aren't satisfied with it, but it's something" people. Nevermind what that "something" was (and virtually no one wanted to understand the downside of whatever "it" was because only one or two had an understanding of the financials, and fewer still what health care reform was needed).
When revenge and staying in power is more important than quality, then we've reached the end of government being useful. It merely exists to keep a two horse race in the form of Reps and Dems perpetually running.
There is no alternative, and we're satisfied with that as a people.
Democracy, even in the form of a representative republic is an illusion.
Damn man, you hit the nail on the head.... 100% truth.
The rats are leaving the ship! Stupak to follow Stevens out the door.
Add another seat to the Republican tally for the Nov elections.
He is a politician, right? Part of the game. Not enough pull to get his own airport like some?Service: He's been flying back and forth for years. He has to fly in to Green Bay because there aren't any airports with connecting flights near his home. The district is around a 9 hour drive end to end. He's had to wrangle with the competing interest of business (mining, paper companies), environmental and hunting groups. This on a bum leg (from his time as a cop, he's had 14 surgeries on the thing) that's held together with a staple, and the sinus problem that the little puddle jumpers exacerbate.
Insurance: Actually he has never used it. He's been paying premiums for the MI state insurance plan since he got in, since he promised that he wouldn't use the federal plan from the beginning.
But don't let facts get in your way.
edit: LOL at certain defeat this fall, btw.
You fail at comprehension. What I said was, I know lots of people who want reform, but none who want what has been proposed and passed.
He said he doesn't know anyone that "is for health care reform", and you said you agree. Then you went on to say you know people that are for health care reform.Same. And I have members of my family IN health care (not health care insurance). But, they DO want reform...they just havent seen it yet. I would guess this includes about 4 or 5 RN's, 2 internal docs (inculding my own), and 3 surgeons.I know a single person that is for health care reform.
Just kidding. I do not know a single one.
