The Rap thread

That thread about Rap got me thinking. I never really liked rap at all. But then I realized maybe I just never heard any of the good stuff? Name some good Rap that I could check out. Lots of people seem to lean towards 2pac. Any good? Recommend some songs/albums?

someone knows what they are talking about 😀
seriously, go download some songs by them right now!

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm listening to the song "Good Life" by Tupac (according to Morpheus). I got some other songs by Tupac and it's pretty good. Also tried some "The Roots" and "Nate Dogg".

Isn't a tribe called quest and the roots more hip hop?

anywho, the are very very good for rap (I don't like it all that much)

Dilated Peoples
Jurassic 5
Black Eyed Peas (funny how their only song to make it on TRL was the worst song on the album)

I, personally, don't like rap...mostly. The girl crap drives me insane, and I break radios when I hear them playing it... But some older stuff is kind of nice. I like one song in particular, that being "Going Back To Cali" by LL Cool J.

Check it out.

i think it really depends on what you mean. when i think of rap i tend to think of west coast and the dirty south. are you looking to hear some good hip-hop or just plain rap.

Going back to cali is by Notorious BIG, not LL Cool J.

They both did it. I like LL Cool J's version.

Trust me..

anything from the Cash Money camp... anything they do is golden.

EDIT: I was kidding. I really hope you guys think I was joking.

EDIT: GOOD
you must be joking? I think there was a period in 1999 or 2000 (can't remember) where they were releasing new CDs every month. This, to me, is mas-produced crap-rap. I really like rap, but not the "cash money millionares". I can't belive no one mentioned Nas yet. He is one of the better rappers out there. Check out his new album Stillmatic, and his older album, "I am". If you listen to the music behind the beat it is very meaningful and conveys a story, not rhyming 2 completly unrelated words together. Notorious B.I.G.'s album "life after death" is great too.
