It's weird that one AIB partner allows bios with overclocking but others don't?

Not at all, they want to differentiate from each other. I'd think it were more weird if all vendors offered the exact same set of features. We'd just buy based on box art.

GPU Tweak not working with enhanced overclocking range option.

Cannot get past 1225mV with 2.0.6.3.

Think ill flash when i install the accelero twin.

Definately satisfied, getting rid of gpu tweak.
keeping Trixx.

gonna go for 1275 @ 1225mV.

Temps are epic, this card KICKS my DirectCU II's ass.

so i got unlucky with a asus card i think :C

1275mhz @ 1225mV not stable.

Need more juice.

Will install arctic twin turbo later & probably balls flash it to an asus bios - have to settle for 1250 mhz @ 1225mv for now :)

Altho very satisfied with that.

Temps are fantastic on the sapphire.

Temps are fantastic on the sapphire.

You'll need atleast 1.26v for 1275

So we're seeing a thermal jump like with IVB? :)

just broke 7k pmarks with 5600 mhzram.
Very happy about that.

My main concern is even, if i save the sapphire BIOS, im afraid flashing can't fuck it up beyond repair.

and i think this is pretty decent 7850 i finally got.

I got my Asus 7850 about 3 weeks ago and been running 1050mhz core 5800mhz memory for a while now. I also installed 4 13mm x 15mm x 6mm heatsink on the VRM area try to reduce the temperatures, hoping I can get 1150mhz+ stable on core with increased voltage.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Xbox-36...t=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item5add44f6ac

I downloaded Asus GPU tweak and try to pass 1050mhz core. I was able to get all the way to 1175mhz with 1175mv, but I also noticed my OCCT gpu fps was much lower also. As soon as I back down to 1150mv 1100mhz, my fps is back to normal again and I confirmed this with benchmark and in game. So is this some kind of a over voltage protection built into the card? With only 1150mv, I can only hit 1100mhz core stable and that is the max I can achieve.

Spec

2500k @ 4.5ghz 1.328v
Asrock P67 PRO3
16GB Samsung 30nm 9-9-9-24 1T 1.425v 1866mhz
Corsair CX400
Asus Radeon 7850
Corsair Force 3 SSD / 1TB WD Blue HD

Thanks

that ASIC quality is about the same as mine. I'm currently running at 1150 Core @ 1.250 V. Haven't bothered with 12.5 beta drivers yet.

I got a feeling my card is going to perform similar to yours, if even that. Have an Asus 7850 that couldn't break 1050 mhz (it started tearing a bit on unigine at 1050 and failed 1060) 4on 1134mv stock. Waiting till the weekend to do extensive OC testing, but I'm guessing that I got a semi-dud in terms of OC.

For the people using ASUS GPU Tweak.

I never found the "Power limit slider" in gpu tweak?.

This can be a major reason - use CCC or trixx to adjusts your "power draw" slide.
(Just speculating).

This may stop throttling and allow higher OC's

Don't use CCC. Just use Trixx

So Trixx is the best OC software or? Which version should be used?
I guess no CCC, but just the actual drivers?

anybody here running the Asus 7850 Direct Cu on the stock cooler still? I did a 1275/1400 at 1.25V and my max in Heaven was 77 degrees. Should I go lower on the Voltages or what?

I'm using stock cooler. I'm at 1.250V and I'm around 65-70.

Heaven isn't intensive at all. Games like Alan wake stress my vrms at least 40-50c more and core around 5-10c more

Wow thats a lot of voltage for 1150 core.

I'm in the same boat as Alucard, I'm running 1150 core with 1.24V, yet I'm stable at 1110 core with 1.1V. The increase in voltage to achieve +40 core at that range was surprising given everyone else's results. My temp on GPU core maxes out at 69 though with the stock cooler. 1.24-5V will be the max I go with no heatsinks on VRM.

makes sense to me. think i'll stick with 1150.

Guys who need a lot of voltage for 1150 core. Start trying to max out your memory since you cant go super high with the core.

I'm already at 1,450. Doesn't give me much FPS anyways, when I went from stock to 1450 mem it got me an extra 2 FPS.

I'm pretty happy with this card. I would have liked a bit more but this is still a nice OC and performance for the price.

Two quick questions:

1) Both of the Sapphire 7850s overvolt, correct? (I've seen reviews say that the OC edition doesn't overvolt, but I've seen people online saying that they do...) Is there anything really weird you have to do to get them to overvolt, or can you just use the Trixx software?

2) Is there any difference in GPU quality between the OC and non-OC editions? Or, will they likely both manually overclock to the same amount more or less?

I admit that I don't know, but I highly doubt there's any difference.
- The cards are identical.
- They gave out NO review samples of the non-OC editions.
- The OC is so minimal that no sorting would be necessary
- You can't find a review anywhere of the non-OC edition... they didn't give anyone a non-OC edition so people wouldn't even have a frame of reference on the OCability of the normal version.

This all reeks of marketing.
I think it's just them trying to pull in a few extra bucks from people who aren't confident enough to OC by themselves.

I have stock asus cooler here but I replaced the stock TIM with a fresh layer of arctic silver 5. During OCCT GPU Test, my max temperature is about 69C with auto fan spinning at 43%. In normal games, it rarely pass 60C and the fan usually stay between 25-30% range, much more quiet than my old msi cyclone GTX460 1GB. :D

I'll give sapphire trixx a try when I get off work today.

As for VRM cooling, I noticed as soon as I put 4 heatsinks to the VRM area, the card makes less buzzz sound during gaming and occt. I try to put my finger so the back of the vrm area and it was quite hot with 1.138v stock volts 1050/5800. So with increased voltage, it might not be a bad idea to put some heatsink on them.
