I lived in Orange and Anaheim from 2002 to 2005, definately a culture shock (65 to 70% hispanic). They even have theri own grocery stores that have buses that pick them up since I guess alot of them don't have cars. I will admit I was a bit intimidated in the beginning, but it was my problem and I found out that the hispanics work their butts off. Try getting your car completely hand dried off and almost mini-detailed by some snot nose caucasion teenager elsewhere for less than $25 bucks.
In that situation there's no way to tell who is legal or illegal. The AZ law would be an obscenity there.
Therein lies the problem to a few of our issues. Its the exact same thing as outsourcing jobs, we all bitch about it but at the end of the day we love us some cheap shit.
It was rather amusing after Katrina, people who I knew to be absolutely against illegal immigration, deport them all types, didn't hesitate to hire people of "questionable immigration status" to repair their property for 30-50% cheaper than local companies. They are all against it until it benefits them and then its ok (at least until the work is completed and they no longer directly benefit from the cheap labor). Same thing with outsourcing, we reward companies that outsource our jobs by buying their products because they are cheaper (due to paying someone 1/10th or less than the American worker used to make) but at the same time bitch about companies moving jobs overseas.
The problem with amnesty is the "benefits" go away. The labor isn't cheap anymore once they are legal citizens and they have to follow the same rules and regulations as the rest of us. The problem with our current situation is eventually we must reach wage parity and that means lowering OUR standard of living while raising theirs. We meet somewhere in the middle but no way in hell is that an "acceptable" outcome to any American, regardless of what they "believe".
