I have an SUV (for the price I could buy thousands of WinXPs).

Every time I garage it is banged Up (Garaging is $400 a month).

Parking Tickets in NYC can amount to $150 per one Incident.

I have to be careful Not to Injure people and Not to get myself Killed.

Do not forget to switch On the Alarm and put the Club.

The awful traffic lights, Midtown tumel, and the LIE.

So $90 OS that protected by Firewall AntiVirus and AntiSpy programs pisses me off?

Nah!

I never get spyware. Check out Shad's guide in the sticky in the software forum. That will help with prevention of spyware.

You try making an operating system that's invulnerable to spyware!!!!

Can't happen... there's way more programmers coming up with spyware than people programming OSes and programs to stop it. I say Microsoft has done an awesome job. Their Antispyware Beta works wonders.

I've also found that no matter how much protection is offered, some users get tons of spyware, and some don't. If you're unsatisfied with the amount of spyware on your computer stop clicking "FREE CAR" or "5.9% APR LIMITED TIME CLICK HERE". Now I need to go AIP (aol instant pestering) with some people.. later.

i understand that but the focus was not mainly just spyware i do not get alot or do i expect windows to be fully protected from it, i think they did a decent job with the new packs yet more must be done. the main focus was the price of the software, the 90 bucks.

Well, I'll tell you one thing: bitching without taking action doesn't do a thing.

XP can be hardened, but you have to take steps to do so. Afterwords, it will work to the satisfaction of some. On the other hand, if you are fed up with what you are being fed now, you can always run something else... ;)

However, if you expect somebody else to fix your security problems, you are mistaken.

Only sp2 is protecting my ballz. No need for anti virus. sp2 is nice. I wish they had sp2.5 with all of the updates and windows media player 10.

$90 is a bargain. A new game is $40+ and only lasts a couple of months (except UT2004, but that's different). It works great, makes life easy, and lasts for a few years.I've had it for 3 years now and it's worked flawlessly the whole time. I can't say the same for alot of the software I buy.

Not likely. People who care about being legal, or who get it with a new machine, will buy it and the rest will steal it no matter what the price is.

But think for a second how many developers, QA personnel, marketing agents, help desk techs, project managers, directors, etc are all employed to work soley on the production of Windows. Their salaries vary and I'm sure they're all worked into the ground, but $90 seems like nothing compared to the amount of money MS has spent on producing the software.

BTW. Microsoft has special editions of XP with much lower price.

It geared toward less fortunate countries in which a regular person can not afford to pay $90 since it might be three months of income.

However these versions are language specific (as in No English).

So you can move to Thailand or you can learn Thai and have someone send you the special version.

In a country that people can afford a bottle of Vodka for $15, and a pack of ?Cancer Sticks? goes for $5 )or more) you can afford $90 for few years of software usage, or go to your local public library and use the computer there.

The main difference is that Windows usage might enhance Brain Power while the other two mentioned above Kill Brain Cells every time you use them.

I would argue that the difference you mention is smaller than you make it out to be =)

It is Not Clear to me, what do you mean?

1. Usage of Computer can not contribute to Brain enhancement? (I actually wrote software for such purposes).

2. Usage of Alcohol and smoking does not result in Brain Cells damage?

My translation of Nothinman's comment: Usage of Windows XP results in the destruction of brain cells. :p

LOL.
It does not work this way.

Since the ?Penguin? is so easy to install and maintain, and there is Not too many Functional Office and specific work related applications; you do not have to think and problem solve too much when it is your OS of choice.

Thinking:thumbsup: and Problem Solving:light: is like Physical Therapy to the Brain, the more you think and problem solve, the more powerful is your Brain.:light:

:sun:

P.S. On a serious note while the sentence about the OS might not be accurate and slightly sarcastic, the second phrase about the Brain is a scientific fact.

I'm sure Nothinman does plenty of thinking and problem solving in Linux, and it works for him.
