scarlett johansson is the hottest bitch ever.

and yeah, the ending was insane. but its one of those movies that you cant watch more than once since its all twist based.

Yeah kind of like Sixth Sense. Ive only seen that movie twice. First time i was blown away, 2nd time was just to see if he was really interacting with people or not. But has no rewatchability.

I enjoyed both it and The Illusionist. They're completely different movies (unless all magic movies are the same), so it's hard to compare them, but I think I actually preferred The Illusionist... and that may be due to the fact that I've fapped more to Biel than to Johanssen

I loved the prestige. I rented it from netflix once and watched it twice. And even though I like Ed Norton, I thought the illusionist was terrible.

Awesome, awesome movie with a GREAT ending that I totally didn't see coming. Be prepared for all of the ATOT haters to come in and tell you how much it sucked.

A+++ would watch again.
The ending was incredibly predictable, far more so than even The Illusionist.

That doesn't mean it isn't a great movie though, even if it does have Bale.

I'm gonna have to agree with you here. :awe:

Thumbsup indeed.

Anyone recall the controversy about whether this movie or the Illusionist (another magician movie that came out around the same time) was better? I think we all know who won that one.

Agreed. I came away thinking the movie was a complete POS simply from the terrible, terrible ending. I watched it again about a year ago and it didn't get any better.

I think The Prestige was a more fun movie to watch, but while The Illusionist may involve magicians, it really isn't the same type of movie. The Prestige is more of a revenge movie where The Illusionist is more of a romance movie.

Even though I really like the movie, I completely understand why people hate the ending and the entire movie as a result.

I had NO idea that Tesla was played by David Bowie until a few minutes ago, insane.

Yeah, he did a great job in that role imo.

I enjoyed the movie immensely, but haven't been compelled to watch it again. I'll have to see how it holds up I guess.

That's very interested that you're the 2nd person to mention this.

I interpreted what you're talking about more in a "philosophical" sense about what lengths they would go to for the act. That's what the movie was about. The fact that the machine did what it did was essentially irrelevant. It was the price he was paying for it, the not knowing, etc. That's what carries the weight. That's the entire fucking movie. lol

You'll enjoy movies more if you allow yourself to be drawn in rather than logically critique how realistic they are. They are stories and none of them are true. Even the ones that say "based on true events". Shocking I know.

This is probably Nolan's best movie and one of my favorite of all time. Everything works together perfectly. One of my favorite qualities of films that I look for is ambience. They need that subtlety and have it all dialed in perfectly. Same reason I love the movies Ghostwriter and Ronin. Not amazing movies by any stretch, but the feeling of them.

Holy shit I miss movies. Have a 10 month old. Don't watch anything any more. :'(

There is a fan theory that there was no sci-fi cloning machine. All the scenes that show it happen are either being read from a journal (which was planted to purposely mislead, so could contain lies) or were told by Angier to his most hated enemy- again where he would happily lie. Nobody else ever sees the cloning work, and even the tanks of water at the end are never verified to actually contain bodies, the fan theory explains them away as elaborate stage dressing with wax dummies by Angier to convince Borden he was making clones. Really he just used his double, the same guy who he used earlier, after forcing him to quit drinking and clean up. And then at the end, he sets things in play so his double does go into the tank and drown because he knows Borden is snooping around, to frame Borden.

I'm not sure I buy it, but as described it does logically fit. I'll have to re-watch the movie thinking about it.

that's an interesting theory, but how does that theory
account for all the hats in the forest
?
