I have read a lot of good reviews regarding the antec cases but what is it that makes their products good?

I agree, reread reviews on their cases and the'll tell you how well their built and why. Once you experience working with a cheap ass low POS China $50 vs an Antec/Coolermaster/Lian Li, you'll understand the difference.

Pos China huh? I bet you almost all of your computer components and some lian li's, are made in China.

Antecs are generally conservatively styled (the P160 and the Lanboys being the main exceptions) cases with decent design for airflow (120s front and rear) and noise (hd cushions standard on many). . It should be well known by now that Antec doesn't make much of what it sells - it is mainly a brand marketing company. But their buyers have a knack for picking good stuff from people that know how to make cases (Chenming and Casetek mainly). Now that it seems they have gotten over their side-saddle drive bay phase (ref. the P180) which actually block air flow, things are copacetic...
. The new SLK3000-B and the P180 are excellent examples. I've heard that the Sonata II is pretty slick as well.

They're designed here, made in China but at least with some quality controls in place. Good cases/PSU's for the price and good customer service.

The Sonata in particular is a really good deal for the money, since you not only get a well designed quiet case but a beefy power supply as well that may not have a lot of watts (only 380) but makes up for it with a lot of amps on the 12V (24A on the newer versions). When Fry's has these for $70-$80 after rebate, the deal is unbeatable. You just can't get a quality case and PSU this nice for anything close to that price.

I'm still not sure about the Sonata II, though since they traded out the TruePower for a SmartPower II (plus I hear the new TruePower II PSUs have some fan issues that are being worked out at the moment). I want a nice quiet case with a 24-pin PSU when I upgrade to an A64/NF4 combo, but I'm going to have to wait and see how the Sonata II works out.

I just read the reviews, kept hearing the words "Antec" and "Quality" combined. Loved the look, and wanted a cheap case. So I went with the Super-Lanboy for my own rig.

Its the nicest case i've worked with so far, just very easy to get everything in, up and running, easy to modify, looks nice, its light weight and that carrying strap is wonderful addition.

That should read as "and what is assembled in the usa is made with parts made in china" :)

I do agree that while most Antec cases are conservatively designed, they pay more for some actual quality control and better manufactoring even if it is made in China. The same as the $30-60 el cheapo cases that some work with. You know the ones that cut your fingers and are a pain in the rear to work with and choke off air flow or have ten 80mm fan openings so you can have the pleasures of a tornado similator in your room sound wise.
