Can we get pliablemoose to post more information on how much money he's made on apple stock as evidence that pc's are going away and tablets have taken over?

A lot of people, actually I'm going to go ahead and say the majority of people that buy iPads already have computers. You're not going to buy a computer if you have a computer (except for upgrades, which is not frequent). But the iPad is a new market so it makes sense that a lot more people would be buying it as these people already have computers.

Oh, FFS, you guys know he means that Apple sold more iPads than the big three sold real computers.

uh, no shit, sherlock.

The point is that people already have their computers, and they are keeping them longer than before. Poeple don't have an iPad upon release, so once they have their new toy, they will stop buying them.

They will replace their computers as often as they will their iPads.

it boggles my mind how some ignore the clear fact that Apple makes toys and gadgets (not to discount the iMac and Power Mac--which may cease to exist), but their market focus is, as others have said--on consumption. Not production.

Even the pro design industry that has always relied on Apple for their software and such, will not be getting any serious work done on a meager-powered iPad.

Eventually, they might increase in size, add a more necessary dock for proper typing and content development, perhaps some sort of "pointing device, " etc....and well, you end up with the same thing you've always needed: a desktop computer.
