ive been meaning to sort the images, write a quick diary/blog entry, and organize them all in a presentable fashion

but long trip short: visit Latvia!! cheap beer (2usd for 32oz draft), cheap food, lively old town, nice metro inner-city, bombed out ww2 outer city, russian bazaars with 3' tall Babuskas, and beautiful girls!

WW2 ruins? As a memorial type thing or just couldn't be arsed to level it? I guess real estate demand never recovered.

not memorials, but that you get a nice contrast and juxtaposition between touristy rebuilt town, AND drab grey soviet-era buildings that are half torn... its a more genuine "foreign" and "touristy" experience than seeing a fully dressed up, remade, city
