The Pontiac Aztek's MUCH prettier offspring, the '03 Pontiac Vibe

NFS4

remember the ford probe??

hey honey, guess what i just bought a new probe!!

now it's hay honey i just bought a new vibe!!

woohoo!!

fun car names

I like the Vibe, better than the Aztec (even though I wouldn't have minded one of those either).

And let's keep the sex toy jokes to a minimum, please 😉

Sure, it looks better than the Aztek, but so does every other car. 😉

Still has "a face only a mother could love", IMO.

Definitly looks nice - it's counterpart (Toyota Matrix) looks equally as nice. I'd still take a PT over it though 😛

Pontiac has a bad habit of taking good ideas too far. But they always seem to be able to learn and tweak it to "just right"

<< power's decent, but i'd rater have the Celica GTS' 180hp 4 in, um, a celica GTS. >>

Yeah, but that Celica GTS can't carry five people, doesn't have AWD, and can't carry 57 cubic feet of cargo 😀

Kinda reminds of of the Focus from the side, as well (which isn't necessarily bad).

The front end is definitely what I don't like.

I dunno about that engine, is a 180HP, high-revving inline 4 the best engine for this application? We'll find out sooner or later.

<< My concern is that the interior would be like every other Pontiac (read: rattly, unfriendly, and full of light-gray plastic switchgear). >>

The interior looks more Toyota than Pontiac to me...but there is STILL that red lighting.

You know what I've realized? The new American motto when it comes to cars is this:
When you can't do something right yourself, turn to Japan! 🙂
Chrysler -> Mitsubishi
Ford -> Mazda
GM -> Toyota

Hmm, wonder what the next joing venture will be? 🙂

Toyota did a very nice job on the Vibe, putting a Pontiac badge on a Toyota is among the smarter things that GM has ever done.

Mazda is a part of Ford? That's news to me - I thought they had a relationship similar to Mitsu/Chryco's

Either way - these relationships are great for both countries - I just hope they start yielding some more sports cars instead of SUVs 😉
