Definitely a good show.

Per my spouse who is going into OBgyn, the only part that was grossly inaccurate was the child birth emergency. The shoulder dystosia is considered an extreme medical emergency and L&D would be taking charge over an ER doctor, and moving with far more urgency than was portrayed.
Near the end of this episode within an episode, there was mention (a couple times, IIRC) of the Apgar Score. At the end, 9 or 10, they said.

The Apgar score is a quick assessment of a newborn's health immediately after birth, using a scoring system from 0 to 10. It evaluates five areas: appearance (skin color), pulse (heart rate), grimace (reflex), activity (muscle tone), and respiration (breathing). A score of 7 or higher is generally considered good, while lower scores may indicate the need for medical attention.

The Apgar Score was developed by one of the 20th century's major medical pioneers, Virginia Apgar, in 1952. IMMEDIATELY post-natal, a handful of parameters are ascertained and the score calculated, as fast as possible and the score calculated. If below a certain metric the newborn is further evaluated for potential difficulties. It was a major advance in OBGyn and is still utilized today.

Virginia Apgar, previous to developing this, just one of her accomplishments, was an original pioneer of the establishment of the anesthesiology specialty in modern medicine in the 1940s at Columbia University, where she was the first woman to become a full professor. My father was among the first M.D.s to be trained by her in anesthesiology.

I watched all 15 episodes of Season One last week.

Last night I rewatched Episodes 1 & 2
. I'm getting a ton more out of it the 2nd time. I figure to re-watch the rest of it, it really is way better the 2nd time through. It's much easier to figure out exactly what' s happening. Captions on, that really helps.

Even Breaking Bad!
How much of that did you watch? That's really weird that it didn't draw you in. I had heard a lot about it and only watched it after I had seen a few seasons of Better Call Saul. The latter was more fun but Breaking Bad was a lot more intense and gritty. I think Saul is a better character than Walter White, even though he's a lot more slimy. It's also more realistic since Saul has the hotter girlfriend and that totally reflects reality. Hot girls love shady guys in real life.

I did not say that I wasn't drawn in by Breaking Bad. I certainly was (I watched maybe 3 seasons). I just stopped watching it. Not because I'd lost interest but because I had other things going on and I never got back to it. I fully intend to watch the whole thing, likely from the beginning because I haven't looked at it for a bunch of years now.

Another of the plethora of excellent videos by M.D.s of episodes of The Pitt.

This one is quite excellent and thoroughly worth the watch:

Started watching it. I don't know all the medical terminology so not sure I'll finish. Find it confusing.

They don't dumb down with the medical terminology. Try watching with captions on, that helps with that. And if you can, utilize PAUSE and Rewind to improve your comprehension.

This is the one medical TV show that medical professionals watch and like. Well, Dr. Elliott evidently watched E.R. because in his videos on The Pitt he refers to Dr. Robby as Dr. Carter.

The confusion is much less the 2nd time around. I have Episode 6 cued up now for 2nd viewing.

Confusion is life, look at my sig.
