bad analogy.

paypal allows you to use your CC with non-merchants though.

Sadly idiots want to be protected from themselves so are crying out against paypal.

Out of the problems I have had only the ones I ignored the rules on are those that I have been burned.

Out of those I knew they were a risk.

Ive never had a problem with paypal , I dont use it that often all I do know is I use my CC through paypal instead of my bank acc so that if there is any issue AMEX will be on my side. If there is an issue can paypal just take funds from your bank acc?

My account was hacked and they took out 200 dollars that was left on the account, and like 1000 dollars from the bank account. Luckly my bank blocked the other transactions quickly, not letting them take out more money. It took me like a month to get my money back.
If you are unverified paypal user, they will hold your funds for like 14 days. They say if you get a positive ebay feedback, your funds will be released right away, but it never happened to me.
Also, I've heard that scammers on eBay will sell you an item, and send you an empty box with something inside, like newspapers, to take up for the weight. You will never get your money back, because they will have a shipping confirmation.

ps. how did the hackers ever get the hold of my paypal? I never understood that.

I took the advice I saw somewhere on here. I had my Paypal linked to my checking but that was a bad idea. I switched it to a savings acct I didn't use and only transferred money to it right after making a purchase. That way if something was locked or frozen they couldn't touch my checking account (presumably).

Paypal's cut depends on how much it is total, it is like 3.x% or a fixed number if the transaction is under an amount. Has always been around 3%ish though.

I've been using it since 2002/2003 with minor problems here and there. Dad has been on ebay and paypal before 2000.
Usually the mindset is the buyer is right, so they can claim money back or bounce the cash with all the scams and junk like that.

I've never had any issues with paypal. The people that say stuff about fraud, that has nothing to do with paypal it has to do with people who conduct fraud. How is it paypal's fault that you never got the item? They don't ship anything. It's all part of the risk of using ebay, craigslist and other sites like that. There are tons of scammers out there, and you risk not getting your item (or money, if you're a seller) when dealing with people you don't know.

That said I've never had any issues with paypal. I use it mostly for advertising. I setup a subscription then the advertiser subscribes and I put the ad up.

I did have one incident where someone did a dispute with me, but that was just stupid of that person. He got rid of his website so rather then ask nicely to end the subscription, he did a huge thing about not getting the service he was paying for and demanding a refund etc... I just refunded the payment that had just gone through and called it a day and in the end everyone was happy.

I've never had any issues with paypal either. I actually did get scammed once as I bought a book and never got it. I opened a dispute with PP and within 2 weeks had my money back.
