My g/f is on teh pill, and well, she is having awful cramps...could that be a bad sign? We were doing our business the other day and well, the condom broke (I want to be really cautious). Are these cramps a bad sign?

No.

If they're menstrual cramps, that means she's starting her period.

It's a little strange that they're bad though, the pill usually makes them a little less intense..

If you are worried about the well being of her, make her go to a doctor. If you have to knock her ass un-conscious to get her to go, do it. My girlfriend is sooo stubborn when speaking of healthcare. I have had to literally drag her to the doctors office, and she has thanked me for it. Don't fvck with your health.

Just to let you know...I got my exgf pregnant twice when she was on the pill. It's only about 80% effective. I was lucky both times because she had some problems down there that caused miscarraiges. I would suggest to all you guys....BE CAREFUL and as one of my best buds always says...."Don't nut in that dude...no matter what!"

your gf probably forgot to take the pill for an extended period of time or something. the pill is NOT only 80% effective when taken properly.

the pill has been repeatedly shown to be 95-99% effective when used properly.

It's likely that she forgot a pill or two and didn't tell you.

from planned parenthood:

Fewer than one out of 1,000 women who use combination pills will become pregnant with perfect use. Five out of 1,000 who use progestin-only pills will become pregnant with perfect use.

Basically what others have said, she must have missed a pill .. more than likely more than two, and she didn't tell you... cause the pill is extremely effective when taken properly.

My girlfriend is on the pill, btw.

Ok, as a paramedic I would ask the following questions:

Did she just start the pill or change dose/vendor?
Are the cramps only during sex?
Any recent illness/injury?
Are you using a different type of condom? (latex, lambskin, spermicide changes could cause it)
Is she on/near her period.
Is she ovulating (mittleschmertz) some women experience pain during ovulation.
Has she ever had an ovarian cyst?
Does she have the pain other times as well?
Is this a NEW pain feeling? (we all know what a scrape feels like, is this a new FEELING for her)
Any other new meds?
Any other sexual partners? (sorry...)
Where exactly is the pain? (vaginal, abdominal, back, side, etc)
Tubal pregnancy?

These are only a few questions I would ask to a woman on a call (not many call for this, but I have had many "women" related calls. Baby delivery is messy and they are very slippery). If you want you can PM me with the answers to these (copy my questions and answer please) if you want me to recommend something.

EDIT: I forgot to ask, was this before, or after the condom broke? Could be anxiety, or an allergic reaction to sperm (sorry, that is what it is called mods). There is actually a small percentage of women that are allergic to the protiens in sperm.

LOL....Goldfish....Geeez.

I do have to say this about that chick.....she explained why it happened. She was using a weird type of BC. There are two kinds of pills and I can't remember the specifics that she told me, but she was totally against abortion and said that there was a type of BC that would kill any fetus and there was another kind that was more preventative. She was on the one that obviously didn't do the job 100%. She said she had to take antibiotics the first time and it affected everything. So watch out for that. I think alcohol can impact the pill as well so be sure that you find out about that. I know it's more than 80% effective, but I was trying to scare you peeps cause I certainly was scared myself......twice.

If she is taking it RELIGIOUSLY and on time, it has a very high success rate > 98%

A number of women do have problems on the pill, though, so it would be prudent to call her gynecologist and inqire about her symptoms. I highly doubt it's pregnancy -- but she may need other attention.

Did you get a chance to read my post? I can give you suggestions as to why this is happening to her. Not nearly as good as an OBGYN could, but I can probably narrow it down for the two of you.

Yes, it could. Might be something as simple as menstrual cramps, a bit more involved like a UTI, or something more severe like an ovarian cyst or other complex problem. I'd highly encourage you to give 911Paramedic a brief overview of what's going on, and he can likely if nothing else tell you whether it's an emergency condition or not.
